BTW-due to family obligations last night and tonight, it will be another couple of days before it is up on the site, sorry.

First, I'm getting ready to install the set of PAC-1518s springs (heads on) I bought from Shon Herron a few weeks back. So, yesterday I stopped the local performance machine shop to check on some shims (if I need them) to achieve the correct installed height (1.800").

I got into a discussion (possibly an argument) about the specs on the PAC-1518s (w/ the PAC spec sheet I had) versus the Comp 918s and the Comp spec sheet the shop had. The shop’s position was that the Comp 918s and PAC-1518s are the exact same spring based on their Comp spec sheet. Whereas, it was my understanding the PAC-1518s are an upgrade over the 918s and are rated at .650” lift, w/ 130 lbs closed seat pressure.

Additionally, my understanding was (based on what I had read) the PAC-1215s and the Comp 918s were the same spring, and not the 1518s.

So, what’s the bottom line (1518s-v-918s)?

PAC 1218's are the original 918s that Comp sold until finding another vendor. And they are processed for .600 lift.

I thought I was correct about the PAC-1518s being an upgrade spring over the 918s! I just need to "stay away" from the local machine shop and not get in any more arguments with them. Also, they hadn't even heard of PAC springs, which says a lot about them.

Also, I ordered me one of the beehive spring mic's (small top, 1.50" to 2.10") so I can check the installed height on each valve and make sure I have everything perfect on the spring swap!

There's still a lot of people who don't know about us. We've been behind the scenes for 40+ years. It's funny to see peoples reaction when they find out they've been running our springs for 10+ years.

PAC-1218 and the 918 were the same spring. A 915 is a PAC-1215

The load specs for the 1518 and 918 are the same. Just you can safely run .650" lift on the 1518s since they are nitrided. A 918 was 318lbs at 1.200". A 1518 is still 318lbs at 1.200, but you can run it down to 1.150" where it's 337 lbs.

The real upgrade in the 1518 is its nitriding, which gives it much better load loss and fatigue life. It should last the life of your engine.

Thanks for all the info on the PAC-1518s! I knew I had made the correct spring choice (w/ PAC-1518s) from what I had read, but then got into the discussion with the people at the machine shop (they beat me up on the spring issue). Then I started having second thoughts about being right.

I'm really looking forward to getting the 1518s installed (currently have the 918s). Additionally, I've ordered some beehive titanium retainers w/ 10 degree locks which will be an additional upgrade in the valve-train.

Also, I have the Comp XFI-292 cam w/ 1.6 RRs, so my lift at the valve is in the 590s. The car is used for bracket racing (almost every weekend in the summer) so it sees a lot of track time and high RPM runs.

yes, you will need the smaller retainer for the beehive, do you want Ti Retainers or steel? We can get it all to you.

I am interested in the PAC-1518 as well. I have comp 918's on my car now with steel retainers. It only took about 90-100 miles for 3 of them to break. Unsettling to find that when you pull a VC. All I would have to do is change the springs ad reuse my locks, retainers and spring cups right?

Also, was interested in a price for a SJM LL with abs delete kit.

Also needed some parts for my moser 12 bolt, you deal in those rear ends?
