If you haven’t checked lately, go to www.camarohomepage.com for an update. We have an interview with Cheryl Pilcher about the new Camaro, it is being released in 3 parts.Due to the volume of questions I am receiving I am unable to answer individual E Mails. I will try to cover a few things here. The production Camaro looks very close to the Concept, only minor details will change. You can expect probably 3 to 4 option package levels. The coupe will be released first with the convertible about a year later. A V6 is standard with possibly an optional V6 above 300 HP and probably the LS3 V8. Pricing of the car should be competitive with Mustang similarly equipped. It is still way too early to know actual options and colors. Information probably won’t be released to dealers until August or September 2008. Production will start probably November /December 2008 with the first cars showing up in the showroom February 2009. Production will start at very low levels initially as they have to meet the quality targets. We are not accepting deposits at this time, but will continue to release information as it is received. We do have additional information but unfortunately are not allowed to release it yet.
Tom Henry Racing ( www.tomhenryracing.com) will do an upgrade or package on some of our cars. We can’t get parts engineered until the cars are released, so there will be some lag time. Expect visual upgrades along with headers/chambered exhaust to start.
As soon as I have more information I will release it.

I'm not sure why some would have problems with Cheryl as Product Manager. Now -- I'm spoiled -- I've gotten to work with Cheryl for a number of years -- and I've seen her in action -- and she's awesome.
(....Did I mention that many in the Corvette Community refer to her as 'the queen of Z06?) (Did I mention she was the product manager for the Z06?) (......and did most mention that the Z06 is an awesome car?)
While Cheryl may not outwardly exhibit the passion that you and I may show sometimes.......(and that's something that gets me in to way too much trouble at times) you can be assured that her passion for the Camaro runs deep. Moreover, she's very good at 'set up' -- that means she has the patience and knowledge to ask the right questions -- and 'set up' a situation to get what you and I need in a performance car. (Did I mention she was a chassis engineer on the 4th gen car? And did I mention that the 4th gen car can embarrass a lot of cars costing substantially more - on a road course?)
Those of you who know me know that the Camaro is my life. I am probably WAY too 'proprietary' with the Camaro -- and I can say without any doubt -- Cheryl is THE person we (that's you and me) want as our voice for the Camaro.
We're in GREAT hands with Cheryl.

Well, considering the Z06 managed to shave the better part of ~100 lbs (maybe ~80?) OFF the weight of the standard Corvette, and the Z06 (in particular, the 505 HP C6 Z06) has a significantly larger (displacement) engine, making far more HP, with the addition of a dry-sump oiling system, steering & trans-axle oil coolers ........ and it STILL managed to LOSE weight
.....
..... SOMEONE on the design team had to play a role in that, right??
So exactly how much credit is owed Cheryl Pilcher for that achievement???
..... and the Camaro design team is striving for a light-weight Camaro, right????
Is it safe to hold our breath, waiting to be "pleasantly surprised" by the weight of the Camaro????

Can/will Cheryl play a role in making this a reality?????????
