That looks pretty cool. Nice innovation. Now, when can I get my bluetooth and nav system in a chevy other than the vette.

Pretty intresting, but some of the things I don't know. Why would I want to change the radio station while I am outside of the car? I guess overall some of the features would be pretty handy.

Anyways this is a industry first, way to go GM. I am looking at getting a Pontiac Torrent GXP next spring, I wonder if these things will be available on the Torrnet, it will be well worth it for the additional range capabillities of the key fob.

thats pretty cool, especially for less than $100 for a keyfob replacement and $150 for the option itself.

hell some car keys are more than triple that cost

now make it an option on every GM car so those of us who don't want an SUV can get it

The same technology, with some changes, should eventually be able to remind drivers if they forget and leave children in the car.
Just...

Wow.

It's actually old (about a year) news.

I like, nice new kind of tech into an area that most of us have forgot about.

Anybody know if this is available already? The article is from November 2006.

I read it as being able to change the presets, not the actual station. Maybe it's both?

I guess it'd be cool if you were listening to a song or a radio show or whatever in the house, and you wanted to continue listening in the car. You could tune in that radio station ahead of time and be sure that you wouldn't miss anything.

it happens a lot

here in florida every summer at least 5 - 6 kids are killed from being left in the car when the summer heat bakes it to about 150 degrees, and thats just the ones that actually die.

Hmmm... I don't really care for the way it looks. Too busy. Looks almost identical to some of the cheesy aftermarket Viper alarm key fobs I see. I think they need to use some form of OLED screen so that the screen won't have to be so big and clunky looking to convey various messages, yet won't consume a whole ton of power.

Also, regarding the 'could let you know if a child was locked in your car' thing... Volvo recently had a series of commercials where they showed how they already have a heartbeat sensor in their vehicles - the keyfob chirps at you and flashes if it detects a heartbeat in your car when you're within range of the car.

Except the way they marketed it was not to let you know if you left a kid in your car, but rather to let you know if the boogeyman had sneakily broken in your mom mobile and was awaiting his chance to abduct you like always happens to helpless women in dark parking lots in the movies.

I agree. Cool concept, execution is a bit lacking. Integrating onto that really nice concept Buick keyfob would be a large step forward.

Agreed^^^...if anything I wish they would get rid of the rubber buttons and replace them with plastic buttons, feels surer.
