What converter?

ok, im getting my tranny rebuilt this winter.. and def want to throw a nasty converter in it. but i dont know which one. my car is a bolt on LT1 street/strip. that gets a good amount of time on the street. long term goals are goign for the bolt on record. i was thinking a vig 3600 but i dont know.. any help would be much appreciated. recommendations?

Vig. 3600 is a good piece for a bolt on LT1. It might want more but it might not. Anything in the 3200-3600 area is going to see big improvements over stock. Saturday I watched a bolt on 97 T/A going 12.60's with 255 radials. 1.60 60's...looked good to me when it left! he had a Yank 3600. wasn't sure if it was a SS/ST/PT/XYZ....etc.

Here is how I have been matching torque converter combinations over the last several years with very accurate recommendations. This is assumuing that you are using a 700R4/4L60E, you will need to know the rear end gear ratio, engine size (cubic inches), what intake setup (type of manifold and cfm of carb or throttle body), what heads & compression ratio, type of cam (hyd flat tappet, hyd roller, etc.), duration of the camshaft at .050" lift, lobe centerline and if advanced, headers or stock type of exhaust, and exhaust system. Are you running nitrous, and how much FWHP. Super or Turbo charging, and how much FWHP. Now what is the vehicle used for (drag racing, road racing, etc.), and is it a daily driver or a weekend warrior (fun car). Next how do you drive, conservatively, moderately, moderate/aggressive, or aggressively. This should get you very close to optimum stall that is needed. Better to ask too many questions than too little as far as matching a torque converter to your combination. I have been recommending the Vigilante going on ten years with very good results in terms of longevity and performance. Yank makes a good one, Pro Torque I hear does well, Edge too, and Fuddle (the newest here) seems to be doing well also. These should give you a good selection to choose from.
