I took them off my '00 T/A and it looks better without them. Heres some pics of my car without them.

What do you use to get the black marks off after removing the molding?

Only problem is, when a careless jerk parks next to you their door will now hit your door or body panel instead of the molding. I've got too many nicks on the moulding to justify removing it so the paint on my car will be chipped instead.

some guys use stuff like goof off (use sparingly to avoid it getting on the paint much or for very long time) or any other stuff like that.

Any remaining tape. I just used my finger to peel it off. To get rid of the black residue I used mequires paint cleaner and used a little elbow grease and it came out mint.
As far as getting dings from other doors. I took my moldings off over 4 years ago and have not got a ding yet. When I park it I try to park it away from the other cars. I'd rather walk a little further than trying to park as close as possible to the front row and risk getting dings.
