Why do you detail your car/other cars?

About once a week my S/o and I wash our cars together, Takes about 1/2 hour but we keep everything up so our cars are another thing we have pride in and enjoy working on:thumb:. Sure our neighbors bust on us EVERY WEEk but whatever, I like making things look better then they did when they just rolled off the showroom floor! I've always felt that once something has been cleaned up right it's easy to maintain in the future.

I also regularly take care of my parents cars and just yesterday went all out on my fathers Tahoe, washed/waxed/ wheels/tires/trim/wheel wells, everything, even wet sanded out a really bad scratch!!! looks like brand new! Thats payment enough :D(dont charge my parents of course).

I'm always blown away by what you can achieve with a buffer! It's nice to take POS and bring it back to life. Also , clean cars run better:thumb:
Basic process was:
Claybar whole car.
3M Extra cut rubbing compound for the nasty scratches - white pad.
3M Foam pad polishing glaze for light cars - gray pad.
Seal with Klasse SG - which is a pain to remove with but gives great results and lasts pretty long.


This Tacoma was on craigslist stating that it was "faded"/ "needs paint".

This Mustang had 198k miles and was beat - but the paint was still intact - just dry and needed some working:

I wash my T/A once a week. I try to wax it once a month and I use the clay bar 3 times a year. I vacume the carpets and detail my interior once a month try to wipe the engine compartment once a month at least and once a year I put it up on jackstands and clean the undercarrage. And I even polish my Borla Muffler a few times a year ( my gf bust my balls about that) But I had the car almost 5 years now and I only have 1 more payment left and the car is in as good shape as when I got it and I put 45k miles on it.
And I also keep up my parents cars and my GF's car

heres a pic of my car a couple of months ago. Not bad shape for a daily driver that has never seen a garage and sits outside during the harsh new England winters.
