Q: What is this all about?

CamaroZ28.Com has once again partnered with GreenLight Toys (http://www.greenlighttoys.com) to produce a Limited Edition 1/64 scale Custom Die-Cast Camaro! Like the first version...

* Limited to approximately 1,500 pieces
* Each one individually serial numbered
* Custom car design and wheels
* Special CamaroZ28.Com graphics, text, etc. on both sides of the packaging, including matching trading card
* Special CZ28PACE license plate on the cars themselves (see below for why!).
* Officially Licensed by GM!


Q: Series TWO? HUH?

Series II...the second in the series. The first version (here (http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508310)) was so fun for me to do and sold so well that it became a series. The second version is now in the works. The design has been done and the artwork has been submitted!


Q: How will it be similar to the first version?

* Same price ($9.99 plus shipping)
* Same run numbers (approximately 1,500 made total, approximately 5% will be Green Machines)
* First 10% of run will come with certificate of authenticity as well as all Green Machines
* Licensed by GM, same great detail, same great packaging, same cool CamaroZ28.Com style and quality

Okay, here's the good part. :cool: It WILL be a Camaro Concept of course, but there will be a major difference in the car structure itself that will be revealed later. The car color, wheels, graphics, packaging will all be new and unique. What color will it be? Not black like the first one. :) I took major elements from one VERY famous and historic classic Camaro and a couple of minor elements from a similarly matching late model Camaro and merged those elements with a Camaro Concept. Die-hard Camaro enthusiasts from both ends of the spectrum will love this car. Once again, I am doing this to show possibility and generate excitement for the upcoming Camaro and I belive I have succeeded even better this time than with the first version.

I will say that I was inspired by a Photochop image done by a member of this very site. When it was posted on this board a few months ago, I contacted the author of the image and asked him if I could make a die-cast car based on it. He was happy to be a part of it and he will receive credit on the back of the packaging. I believe that image is still posted on the site, but good luck finding it. :devil:

It will NOT be the Sunoco Camaro this time. I am only saying this because a lot of people have incorrectly guessed at this recently, and I don't want anyone to get their hopes up only to be let down. However, keep in mind...this is now part of a series. :) This car will be just as nice, though!

I will open up pre-ordering at 11:59pm EST October 13 (Saturday night). Pre-ordering is encouraged because it is guaranteeing yours and ensures that you will get a lower serial number and will increase the odds of receiving it by Christmas.

Q: Why do I want to pre-order?

Since the cars are individually numbered, they will be sold in order as close to sequentially as possible, starting at the lowest number. The sooner your orders gets in, the lower your serial number will be. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control there is no guarantee of particular numbers. This one is expected to sell out quickly.
Also, like before, every 25th car ordered up to the first 500 also gets a free highly valuable and rare Green Machine version. (500th car ordered, so this is no longer valid.)


Q: So after I pre-order, when will it ship?

We are expecting to receive them in early to mid December early January (see post #200 in this thread) and they are expected to ship immediately. It is highly advised that you pre-order as soon as possible if you want to get yours in time for Christmas!!

Q: When will the design be released?

Approximately one week before pre-ordering is opened up, which makes it late October 6 or sometime October 7 that images will be released.

Q: What is a "Green Machine"?

Green Machine versions are GreenLight's special edition separate numbered run, and can be considered in this case to be a "limited edition of the limited editions". They will account for approximately 5% of the regular production run of the CamaroZ28.Com cars. They will be VERY rare and valuable. They will come with a matching certificate of authenticity.


Q: Okay, how do I get the "Green Machine" version?

Every 25th pre-ordered regular production car (up to the first 500) will get a CamaroZ28.Com Green Machine version to go along with it absolutely FREE (a total of 20 free Green Machines - the "Lucky 20"). (500th car ordered, so this is no longer valid.)


Q: Will there be a Chris/Jason/Scott Settlemire signature option?

Signature options on the cars themselves like the first version are not planned. However, the first 150 cars (approximately 10% of the total run) will come with a matching numbered certificates of authenticity, hand numbered and signed by Chris and Jason.


Q: How do I know if my order made it in? What serial number will I get?

The odds of an order not making to me are pretty slim, but if you are concerned or just want to make sure, you can e-mail and ask at jason@camaroz28.com. Please make it easy for me to check and include ALL order information. Also note that it may take me some time to get back with you. Be patient, I will do my best to reply ASAP.
You also have to create an account in the store to place an order. You can log into your account there and check status that way. If is says "Processing" everything is fine. There is no way I can mention what serial number everyone will get. I would hate to count incorrectly and have someone disappointed. It will have to be a surprise! :)

Like the first one, I am basically a one-man show on this one. From the design to the shipping, I am pretty much handling all of this. I will try to be as precise as possible in doing this. Having said that, if there are any errors beyond my control (e-mail orders not making it to my inbox for one reason or another, technical glitches, etc.,) please understand that it is just that...beyond my control. I suppose my biggest concern is PayPal or Google not sending me an e-mail and someone not getting their order "in line" or something getting lost in the mail. Greenlight headquarters is about 1/4 of a mile from my house. Was down there Friday on unrelated business and saw the first-shot concept 'verts and was asked my opinion. They look AWESOME!!!!!

The best way I can put it is that I am not disappointed in any way. These are going to be AWESOME! Darn fine detail for a 1/64 scale car.

Put them on your Christmas list and mark October 13/14 on your calendar, I think these are going to go VERY quickly.

That's an awesome set! I want to see the packaging that it comes in though. Are they all separately packed or are they in a single box? The presale and due date that they give definitely supports my theory. Although, Jason's hint about the plate specifically not being a Michigan plate leads me to believe it might be a Bumblebee car with the same plate that the car in the movie had.

There are no specially "packaged sets" from GreenLight that I am aware of (like 4 cars in one pack like a diorama display type of thing). I can call and ask.

I think they are only available individually packaged and people sell them in a group, like a "package deal" which is what I believe the ebay seller is doing.

I am working on some neat "package deals" for you guys for Series II, so you might want to hold off for a bit. :)

The 4 car set of the 2007 Camaro Concept is part of the MCG Rel 5. It is item #12631-06 and will be individual package like the rest but come in a "Solid Pack" case of only the camaros. They are in Hugger Orange, Silver, White w/orange & Black.:D - AWESOME LOOKING

Okay, I suppose it is time to spill on the whole design and story behind Series II. I have kept you all waiting long enough. :)

When it was realized that Series I (which is what I will call it from now on) was a complete success, I got a shout from GreenLight. They asked me that they were considering a convertible casting and if I would want to do another car and have it be one. Since Series I was pretty much sold out or at least on the way, I figured it wouldn't be a gamble to do another one.

A bit later, they let me know they were indeed going forward with a convertible and that I should start coming up with a design. I started poking around the board for some ideas. When I saw this particular Photo'Chop by a member here named Joseph Mazerac in this thread (http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=421928):

I knew that is what I wanted to base my next die-cast car on. I figured, what is one of the more famous Camaro convertibles out there? Why, the 1969 Pace Car! I shot a message to Joe and asked if I could use it as a starting point he was happy about the idea (you will see his name on the back of the car's packaging). He has done a LOT of cool Photopshop jobs on the Camaro, you need to check them out in that thread.

But I had to add more to it...

I am not licensed to use the Indianapolis Motor Speedway logos or even the "Indianapolis..." text, so I had to change things up just a little a bit. The car became the official Pace Car of CamaroZ28.Com for 2008. :cool: I also thought of what another well known pace car was, and that is the 1996 Brickyard pace car. So, on the back of Series II, the portion between the taillights will be black and the inner pair of taillights will be orange instead of red. I also put a windshield banner on it, also just like the 1996 car. So, I wanted to put some 1969 Pace car and a bit of 1996 Pace car into a 5th gen Camaro Convertible Concept. Not a bad combo. I finished it off by giving it an Indianapolis license plate that says "CZ28PACE". How many car sites do you know out there have their own Office Pace Car? :D

I then put in an e-mail to my buddy Steven Whitaker who is the guy behind the Bring on the Storm video (http://www.camaroz28.com/bringonthestorm/) and the 3D rendering on the trading card of Series I to see if he wanted to render Series II. A week or so later, I had my rendering and I knew it was going to be a winner. I called up GreenLight and gave them the go ahead and started working on the car packaging.

And without further delay, here is the image that Series II is based upon and what will be on the trading card in the packaging.

The signature thing was an absolute nightmare to keep track of. It really slowed things down as far as sorting and shipping.

Yea had problems ordering last night too. I was trying to get the certified (150) ones and kept on timing out to page cannot be displayed. Then I would go back and the order would change adding one more car to my cart. Changing that and then going back to try and just order the two. all in all 45 min of trying to order and finally went to bed. Got up this morning to order no problem now. I had no problem the last time and this this morning. I used googles checkout so..idk..just ticked that I waitied and tried and got nothing out of it cus of some problems with the server at google..

Depending on payment method and type, some orders are set to "Pending" until I verify payment. Only when they are converted to "Processing" will it pull the amount from the inventory. The numbers are much different now that I have reviewed the pending orders.

The pictures of the car that are not a computer rendering are of a prototype they sent me. The production version will be 99% the same. There were two minor cosmetic changes that needed to be made. One, the inner two taillights will be amber instead of red. Also, the stripes needed to be tweaked a bit, they weren't quite accurate in the prototype. Other than that, it will be identical and if you put them side by side, most would never even spot the differences.

For the record, the camera makes the car looks more plastic-y than it actually does and throws the colors off a bit. I will try to get more decent pics later. I just put those up in a bit of a hurry. I think overall this one looks better than Series I, package artwork and all.

I made my Payment through PayPal early this morning about 00:30 Central Time and had no problems at all that I am aware of. I received an email shortly afterward as a receipt from Paypal that the transaction went though.

I hope I was able to get the certified cars.

Due to the growing quality problems with paint on toys and items coming from China (where it seems every toy is made), I just got word that there is a delay in our cars reaching us.

NO, there is NOT any concern over Greenlight's quality whatsoever. Make no mistake, the cars that Greenlight makes are fully validated and are produced with safe materials. We all fully expected these to be in by now, but at the time our car initiated production, we simply could not foresee the paint quality problems that the junk toy companies caused growing as big as it has because GreenLight does not use materials that could cause those kind of problems.

However, tighter inspections on shipments going out of that area are slowing everything down. Our cars ARE done and on the way to me, however they will be a couple of weeks late. The new expected date is early January. Yes, it is only a couple of weeks late and I am sure that everyone can understand that there is no one to blame, this couldn't be predicted and can't be helped. However, I personally feel bad about this.

I want to sincerely apologize to all who had hoped to get these in time for Christmas. If anyone would like to cancel their order and get a full refund, all you have to do is e-mail me at jason@camaroz28.com with your full order information and request a refund and I will take care of it as soon as I can with my apologies.

Again, I am very sorry for the delay! Watch this thread for updates, I will post them as they come in. I will also send this message out to everyone who is subscribed to the CZ28Store newsletter. Thanks to all for understanding.

Well, I wanted to offer order cancellation for a number of reasons...

1) It is the right thing to do, IMO.
2) I originally put emphasis on ordering early for Christmas delivery and we all expected that to be a reality.
3) If any orders are canceled, I won't have a problem selling all the cars anyway since I have no worries about this batch being all sold out like the previous one.

No one has canceled their order at this point. In fact, so far everyone has been very cool about it. This "one man show" sure does appreciate that.

You also have to create an account in the store to place an order. You can log into your account there and check status that way. If is says "Processing" everything is fine. promising green machines to something like 48 random orders or something like that... why is he able to do this...and sell the cars for the same price

Yep, I am the producer of the cars. Consider them "mine". I make them as a fund raiser for this site and to also maybe spread the word about it. Not to mention, it is fun for me. Russ at Milezone is one of my dealers, I consider him a friend. As a dealer, he buys large quantities at a wholesale price. He also buys a couple of Green Machine versions from me so he can offer them as incentive for buying, just like I give one free Green Machine for every 25th regular car ordered up to the first 500 regular cars sold.

The delay as mentioned before could not be foreseen or helped. Literally everything coming from that part of the world is delayed for the same reason. I know this is not a big deal for most but it is also unexpected to those who pre-ordered which is why I wanted everyone to know that if they wanted to cancel their order, they could do so and get 100% of their money back. If you pre-ordered and want to cancel, just let me know and I will take care of it with my apologies.

Easy there, buddy...I think you took it all the wrong way. What I meant by that was that they start with ME and go to MILEZONE, not the other way around as it is my project and not one that Milezone initiates. THAT is what I meant. I was just trying to explain that to you because I thought you were thinking it is the other way around based on how you worded your post saying that I would order from a toy store. I was trying to do it in a nice manner with the smileys and such so I am not sure how you would have thought otherwise.

I think you have that one mixed up as well. I never "randomly" insert the Green Machines. The is car #2 in a series I did this one the same as the 1st one...every 25th car. I have never done it another way and the reason for this is so people will know without question if they were one of the lucky ones or not. It is mentioned in the first post of this thread as well.

Milezone's gives away one in every 48, I give one away for every 25th car up to car #500. He gives away two and I give away 20. The odds are better with me if you order early. If you didn't and missed the first 500th car ordered (which I believe you were a more recent order so you probably are not in the first 500) and want your money back to place an order with Milezone, I am cool with that. Just let me know so I can take care of it. I really don't have a problem with that.

I am not sure where you are getting this...I never say that they will be "marked up" in fact I request that all of my dealers sell at the same price (including me) so that it is fair for everyone.

I gotta tell ya, you are taking everything ALL wrong. I honestly didn't know who you were or or how much you knew about the situation, and I was just trying to answer your questions. The project does its job and it brings in new site members and a lot of them are very new to the site and the cars I make for it so I try to be thorough.

Like I said, if you don't like the situation just let me know and I will be glad to give you your money back. I am not one who wants people to be unhappy about any of my projects, I say that all the time because I want it to be known. I would rather that you just ask for your money back so you can be happy than to have you feel that I was unfair. I am sorry you took it the wrong way and I didn't mean any disrespect. All I meant to do was answer your questions as completely as possible in case someone else was wondering the same thing.

I have a question about the Greenlight Camaros Series 2. I have bought other Greenlight cars in promotions where if you buy a quanity of 10 or 12 cars, one regular car would automaticly be replaced with a Green Machine. Do you do a similar deal on these cars?
