Demon's Camaro 09-22-2007, 04:12 PM For the LS cars you need to run the 4Vs to have a competition. The Mach1 is a drivers race a Cobra should give you fits.
Check LS1.com if you don't believe me about the Machs.
The 2v should stay with the lt1 until it is F/I.

The 99-04 GT's make in the 210-220 rwhp stock....being a manual.
I have seen a few run low 14's stock...

I have seen a few run low 14's stock...So there slower then I thought, what was I thinking ? There what 260 stock? lol I left 10 hp for drivetrain loss :P Just ignore my other post.:irk:
Antz97ZNJ 09-23-2007, 06:42 PM They run door to door w/ bolt on LT1's but they need ALOT to hit 12's. Its ashame a goodlooking car. The new 3 valves seem to react to mods well though.....btw good runs.
cn97z28 09-23-2007, 08:00 PM ^ Hmm.. I raced one before and walked away from him pretty easily, and he got the jump on me from a dig. When did they change the style from the foxbody? '93?

A bolt on LT1 will walk a a stock 99-04 GT. An auto LT1 in good tune is a dead heat and a 6spd should walk away. An auto GT has no chance at all against any LT1. The new 3V's as you pointed out are much better.
bombebomb 09-24-2007, 04:17 AM  Yea, sounds like a something a stang owner would say. "Bone stock, 250 to the wheels". Yes, they're at 260!Thats cold, and not the spelling corrections :) I did know they never had 250 at the wheels, I just was not thinking lol I must of had a stang moment.
Demon's Camaro 09-24-2007, 10:05 PM Well my GT does not like to hook at all. I can only launch at 900rpms slipping the clutch:mad: and I still constantly hit 13.9s at 101.48-69. My mph is up 1 since the last time I went it was very hot.
If these numbers seem far fetched feel free to meet up with me anytime in Rochester NY. I can attest to the motor being internally stock as I put the motor in myself.
There was another 2000 GT at ESTA drag strip running with me that was running 14.3@97 consistently. He has a K&N FIPK and a SLP LM1. We were running heads up bracket and he would be next to me until 3rd gear and I would walk him HARD through the traps.
Alot of the manuals hit 230rwhp stock but that is still a pretty low number for what it should be.
As for the 12s being hard, it isn't that hard. With cams, gears and tires your there ALL day. If anyone says otherwise they just can't drive.
henryz28 09-25-2007, 12:31 AM It kinda dose take a lot of cash and time if you do the work your self to get a gt into the 12s without power adders. On the 4.6 4v mustangs its over $1000 just for the cams, so with the cash it takes to do a cam on that car you can do a heads and cam on a lt1 and you might even have some extra cash.

Stock...as in no mods...you might as well say your motor is stock, but pay no attention to the 125 hp nitrous kit?
Stock means no mods...
What type of power should they be hitting...and I have seen dozens of 99-04 GT's dyno and I never saw any in the 220 range stock.
Antz97ZNJ 09-25-2007, 03:25 PM A bolt on LT1 will walk a a stock 99-04 GT. . You must have misunderstood me and the way i wrote it I would have too :) , I meant mod for mod bolt on wise there pretty even...Generally both run low 13's w/ bolt ons.
jimdrechsler 09-25-2007, 08:49 PM thats why people need to stick with the fox bodies as opposed to the newer ones! i love the fox bodies!

If you think you need cams to hit 12s with any of the 4Vs you are mistaken. DRs, & gears can do that.
As for a 2V, cams are a decent investment but alot of bolt-on guys have hit 12s.
If putting on tires or bolt-ons is time consuming then I guess you are in the wrong hobby, that stuff takes a hour or two at most.
Canton, what are you talking about? I never said that my car was stock just that the engine was INTERNALLY stock. I have a very short list of bolt-ons only of which two give any kind of power. If all the internet lore is correct I have gained nearly .3-.6 tenths and 4.5mph over a stock GT. I am by no means a "great driver" and will be the first to admit it. I will honestly say someone that could drive the hell out of my car could easily hit a 13.6 with the same weather conditions. This is due to the fact that at ESTA safety park I was hitting 13.9s @101.48+
As for nitrous.......whered that come from. If I had nitrous I would be expecting at least a 12.9 to 13.0.
henryz28 09-26-2007, 02:29 AM oviously I am undereducated on the stags. But I do know I have yet to be killed by one.
Antz97ZNJ 09-26-2007, 06:32 PM If you think you need cams to hit 12s with any of the 4Vs you are mistaken. DRs, & gears can do that.
Agreed, the new edge 4V's (and the sn95's arent far off) basically need some gear, traction, and a driver and there hitting 12's.. Seeing most street strip guys are going w/ 430's/456's its understandable. 2V's on the other hand can run 12's w/ all the bolt ons but there still only trapping a little over a 100 and it usually require's et streets and susp....Cams dont add much and get very expensive fast which is basically the reason why most go FI. Even a cam'd New Edge GT will get yanked on the hwy by a stock 6spd LS1. Tuff car to get alot of power out of unless you have oney to throw at it.
Demon's Camaro 09-26-2007, 07:18 PM I'm almost running 102 bro. And I'm no where near heavily modded. On the 22nd I hit 13.933@101.68 and 13.921@101.47 This is leaving at 1k rpms as I will blow up the tires until 3rd if I don't.
Hitech motorsports is the new cam gods for the 2Vs as they have seen 40rwhp on stock/exhaust cars. They obviously did their homework.

but yet a stock 2000 z28 will still walk your car.:D now we are back to the same thing they are ssslllooowww unless you drop alot of money on them.
Thank god for CHEVYS
Antz97ZNJ 09-26-2007, 08:12 PM Yea 13.9's@ 101 are stock LT1 6spd numbers and your modded. Not aware of the hitech stuff your talking about...
Demon's Camaro 09-26-2007, 08:35 PM But my 60 ft times are damn near 2.2 as I literally have to launch off idle due to my Kuhmo ecsta ASXs. If I stick I'm at mid to low 13s ALL day. Once the videos are up you will see that I spin still for about 100 feet out from the tree.
I agree that a LS1 will still walk me but lt1s fall HARD here. The Mustang, Camaro, Firebird grudge races are coming up here shortly. Most lt1 cars are 14 second cars here and the LS1s are mid to upper 13s.
The track elevation at Esta is 400ft and NYIRP where I go most often is at 903 ft.
As for Fbodies I know my pecking order but highway rolls I am a MONSTER to the lt1s;) (no traction issues)
Races should really be done at a 1/4 mile track though and the speed you cross at is irrelevant compared to how quickly you get there.
EDIT: If you say I am modded, then you have to say all the LS1 guys that say I only have a lid and exhaust are modded too!
CANTONRACER 09-26-2007, 09:06 PM What did your car run stock? Since you must be racing stock LT1's...
You have pulleys, an x-pipe, an exhaust, tb spacer and a tune. How do you think LT1's react to mods?
Barely pulling away from people is hardly considered a monster. Now I have a friend with a Mustang that goes 89 mph in the 1/8 and 127 mph in the 1/4...now racing an a stock, heck, most LT1's from a roll...that race it would be a monster.
If they put a lid and exhaust on the car...it is modded.
My wife's car...bone stock...if I do anything to it...it is no longer stock.
Demon's Camaro 09-26-2007, 09:41 PM I never ran the car stock as I had pullies and flowmasters on the car and were switched to the new motor when it was put in.
The car most likely has gained mph but no ET as I cannot launch the car with the current tire setup I have. The stock mph is right around 97-98. I have had a few runs with it near 102 but the ET was botched. If you look up times for a 2v the mph for 12s is only around 103 or 104. Feel free to try and prove me wrong.
That is why I say I cannot truely get a time for this car yet. If I had a better set of tires I could launch appropriately. I owned a 94 Camaro Z28, thus my screen name and a 97 Firebird before that, I understand Fbodies and what they can do.
I also understand that the Mustang is dogged on because most Mustang owners are asshats and cannot drive. I am ashamed of what people post up as numbers for these 2Vs sometimes but when driven with even a remotely competent driver they are a nice car.
I just hate blanket statements that cover a broad spectrum of people or cars. If someone has a 10 second Civic does it automatically mean he is a ricer? Of course not. If you beat a Mustang does that make them all slow?
If I blanketed the forum with a comment such as all Camaro owners live in trailer parks and are hicks that would be as untrue as what comes out of some of these threads.
The monster comment had a wink because of sarcasm. Most Fbody guys will never recognize a loss to a 2v Mustang so that is why the monster was inserted. Hell I had to rethink my outlook on the 99-04 GT when I first lost to a kid who had LCAs, CAI, hpipe, short-throw and Strut tower bar and beat me on the street and then showed me his time slips for 13.4s and 13.5s. He shifts like an auto though.
I actually blew my rod bearings on the 2nd race.(94 Camaro)

while i'd love to put your mph to the test with my current setup (not saying i dont believe you) i wont be back in ny til next summer and my cam is going in about a month from now so it wouldn't be much of a race then

Most LT1s when they were new were high 13 sec cars even the single cat pre 96 cars. My best time in one is 13.7s at 101MPH stock. I saw new Lt1 automatics even hit high 13s at Cecil. Its a driver's race against a 99 and up GT with the came trans at any speeds.
Its sad because a 99 and up LS1 will demolish the 99 and up GT stock at any speed:( And just about do the same thing to those underpowered new Mustang GT stock tanks as well.
my96z 10-06-2007, 07:19 PM Mike! Been a long time! How have you been? I bought my 96 used in 1998 from a dealer there in Glen Burnie. Took it to a muffler shop, whacked off the stock muffler and threw on a flowmaster crossflow that was welded to the stock exhaust. Took it to Cecil and went 13.6 @104. Cecil was a nice track.
I see you still got the green stang. I miss Maryland and Glen Burnie, is there still some good street racing there down the main drag there? Looking through your pics of your stang and Cecil track brings back some good memories.
Nice to see you are still around,
Jeff
