Replaced alternator, still low 12 volts

My voltage has been stuck around 12.0-12.6 volts while driving, so I replaced my alternator with a remanufactured Delco unit (140 amp). Unfortunately, the voltage is still reading low. :( BTW, I'm going off my laptop's readings, not the voltmeter, so I know it's accurate. What could this be a sign of? Could a weak battery cause this, or is it more of a connection issue somewhere?

You can eliminate the battery as the problem with a free load test at your local parts store. A friend of mine had no luck with a couple reman units - finally opted for a new GM and solved his problem.

Run the car with the volt meter on the battery. If it shows the same voltage then, you have a problem. I like the Napa or Carquest alternators. You pay more, but you get a much better unit.

Check your wires and/or connections..... Might be worn.....:)

It is actually better and more accurate to read it with a meter at the battery. The switched voltage in the car can be as much as a volt lower due to losses along the way. The 4th gens seem to me notorious for that.
