2009 corvette ZR-1 spy shotsanasazi 09-19-2007, 01:02 PM http://jalopnik.com/cars/detroit-auto-show/2009-corvette-zr+1-301413.php toneloc12345 09-19-2007, 01:33 PM those front rotors are probably bigger than the wheels on my trans am.... 96_Camaro_B4C 09-19-2007, 01:42 PM Wow, they actually put the tire size in print. I noticed that when I got an up close look at the car in Arizona in August, but I wasn't about to give such detail (I was at a GM facility when I saw it). I think the wheel/tire size thing is outta control. I'd be willing to bet the car would do better with 18s or 19s of similar width. 20s are just too damn big. I hope they are made of something lightweight to offset the weight increase they would bring relative to base/Z06 wheels. The brakes are MONSTROUS. 93Phoenix 09-19-2007, 01:42 PM those front rotors are probably bigger than the wheels on my trans am.... QFT. Whatta sick car, can't wait to hear it! SSCamaro99_3 09-19-2007, 04:10 PM  Big Als Z 09-19-2007, 04:19 PM The wheels are probably bigger to clear the large by massive brakes. As for the ZR1, I hope that Corvette owners get used to the sound of a 6 thousand dollar brake job. Awesome deal on the ceramic brakes...this car is gunna rip the seat belts right oufo the holder. Massive tires, huge brakes, and Im sure lighter weight. I really hope it gets some serious stuff to back that 100k price tag. Thats TWO well equiped Vettes right there. It's going to have a see through window on the hood too? Thats going to be cool. Josh452 09-19-2007, 09:35 PM Over 41k views. Damn I wish I would have bought them when given the chance. It's like, having the winning lottery #'s and not playing for some stupid reason. stereomandan 09-19-2007, 09:39 PM Honestly, it doesn't strike me as all that different. Looks like a Z06 with a little extra spoiler, which isn't a bad thing, but I was hoping for something a little more noticable. I'll hold judgement until the real deal is released. Dan HAZ-Matt 09-19-2007, 10:03 PM Honestly, it doesn't strike me as all that different. Looks like a Z06 with a little extra spoiler, which isn't a bad thing, but I was hoping for something a little more noticable. I'll hold judgement until the real deal is released. DanThe real ones will all be painted in Fuchsia Red Metallic paint so it will be easy to tell the difference. FiefSS 09-19-2007, 11:14 PM The front fenders are different too, theres a pic on digitalcorvettes.com somewhere without the camo. 99SilverSS 09-20-2007, 03:02 AM Looks good like the wheels, front better than rears. I'm too hoping the body is a bit more aggressive than the Z06. I'm thinking more of the C6R body grafted for the street. it has the brakes and powerful engine give it the body. 99SilverSS 09-20-2007, 03:14 AM This may have been posted before but did anyone catch this link on the site above: http://jalopnik.com/cars/spy-photos/2010-chevy-camaro-production-mule-caught-stateside-301534.php Looks like a platform prototype used for the suspension amd or engine testing. All the covered stuff. No need for the body to look like a Camaro or anything to give it away. The more testing GM does the better it is for us buyers. 5thgen69camaro 09-20-2007, 03:30 AM This may have been posted before but did anyone catch this link on the site above: http://jalopnik.com/cars/spy-photos/2010-chevy-camaro-production-mule-caught-stateside-301534.php You know someone posted that a Chevy lumina was spotted states side. There was a big discussion that basically amounted to they were testing the Lumina state side for something. I bet in reality it was this Camaro Mule and we all missed it! Scott said we probably wouldnt recognize it, but I figured it would be a US vehicle. I was guessing CTS. I wouldnt have guessed this... btw look at the width! CalicoJack 09-20-2007, 08:35 AM ...as well as polycarbonate "window" in the hood... God, I'd hoped this wasn't going to be. This has to be one of, if not the worst idea ever to "grace" a Corvette. Crossfire injection was a better idea... SMUJeremy 09-20-2007, 09:47 AM *cough* Asian-market Lumina *cough* But yeah, that. I know what the car pictured is...the guy said it looked like crap, I was referring him to look at what the C5 mule looked like. :) Big Als Z 09-20-2007, 10:26 AM man this thread has ADD.... Anyway, I hope that the "window" is not going to make production. That has to be the single worst design element on any GM vehicle ever. CLEAN 09-20-2007, 10:34 AM I guess we can thank Ferrari for that. I wonder if that window is just being used during the testing? I could see if the engine was something beautiful to look at that you'd want to show it off, but who wants a clear hood so you can show off your plastic engine covers? Dave K 09-20-2007, 02:35 PM I like the window on mid engine cars... but it'd look like crap on a front engine car. 5thgen69camaro 09-20-2007, 03:21 PM *cough* Asian-market Lumina *cough* But yeah, that. wrong. Look again... CLOSELY. Ill give you a hint, its the Camaro Mule from Aussie in the Lumina skin, spotted in the states. man this thread has ADD.... Anyway, I hope that the "window" is not going to make production. That has to be the single worst design element on any GM vehicle ever. LOL yeah really. so which window and on which car? Big Als Z 09-20-2007, 04:53 PM Talking about this clear "window" on the hood of the engine of the ZR1 that will display the engine. georgejetson 09-20-2007, 05:01 PM wrong. Look again... CLOSELY. Ill give you a hint, its the Camaro Mule from Aussie in the Lumina skin, spotted in the states. I'll give you a hint: I got it the first time. :D I was trying to be funny in response to the "cormaro" comment. I think this board's sense of humor has faded some recently. 5thgen69camaro 09-20-2007, 07:54 PM Talking about this clear "window" on the hood of the engine of the ZR1 that will display the engine. Ah ok. Do you think it could just something that serves a purpose on the mule? I'll give you a hint: I got it the first time. :D I was trying to be funny in response to the "cormaro" comment. I think this board's sense of humor has faded some recently. Sorry bout that:o R377 09-20-2007, 09:32 PM Videos are now on Jalopnik http://jalopnik.com/cars/detroit-auto-show/2009-chevrolet-corvette-zr1-first-video-301908.php AdioSS 09-20-2007, 09:40 PM only toward the end can you really hear the car since you mostly hear the camera car. Is it just me, or does the rear hatch look to be CF also? If GM would have gone ahead and put an aftermarket cowl induction hood on it and then painted the entire car the same color, then NOBODY would have noticed it. 99SilverSS 09-20-2007, 10:32 PM Sounds good at the end. I'm not sure if the slight whine before it gets to the camara is the SC or a car passing. Make no mistake when it passes it sounds very Z06'ish Eric Bryant 09-21-2007, 07:52 AM If GM would have gone ahead and put an aftermarket cowl induction hood on it and then painted the entire car the same color, then NOBODY would have noticed it. So true, so true. It's almost like the camo is used to invite attention. | ||
