Removing WORST sap ever!

Since my sister has been away at school I've taken over her car and driving it a few days a week.

2003 Jetta 1.8T in Gray, She waxed it last summer so it's overdue, unfortunately it has some sap in places that wont come off! I used Bug and Tar and really scrubbed and scrubbed but it still wont come off! It's one with the car!

What else to use? It's not too much, maybe 3-4 bad spots.

Once I get this crap off I can wax it up really good.

You could try a clay bar. WD40 is also worth a try.

Wow, I read the word "SAP", and though you were removing a "Sport Appearance Package". I was hoping to open the thread and see a riced out car. i need to stop hanging out at the GTO forums...

As said claying will fix your problem.

Use regular old rubbing alcohol.

WD40 didnt do it! I'll try compounding or clay now, (trying to avoid clay since I dont want to ruin the bar)

Stoner's Tarminator has always worked well for me.

One time I detailed a friend's car, when I was done I had to show him this one spot of sap on the roof that I just couldn't get off. Tarminator, bug scrubber, claybar, WD40, nothing would remove it. He them proceeded to pick it off with his finger. Made me feel pretty stupid. :o

If all else fails, try a mild abrasive.

Is it clear tree sap? If so rubbing alcohol will work.

Get a paint stirring stick. CAREFULLY use it to bump the sap off.

i use remover....but rubbing alcohol will do the trick ...dont scrub lol...clay wont work..get it off fast because it eats the clear :)..like bird poop its does a lot of damage to the paint

Nothing worked! I actually compounded it down!

I later used rubbing alcohol and it brought it down the rest of the way. It still left some faint marks on the paint, but we're going to try waxing it tomorrow (if I have time) so maybe I can work on it some more.

We waxed it up with cleaner wax yesterday, It's alright! Still has some marks but they are minimal. Car has alot of grit on it (could use major claying) but it's not that kind of car so simply having it waxed and looking much better was worth the time.

Just thought I would throw this in... the body shop said my car had bad over spray and sap on my car. They used wire wool on the glass and it came out completely clean. I thought it would scratch but the guy said all the shops around here have been using this idea for years. Wouldn't want to try it on the paint though.

The best thing i've used to remove tree sap is (believe it or not) ice. The wedge cubes work the best and no chemicals or scratches. Just rub the ice on the sticky sap for 45 seconds. It chills the sap and makes it hard then either use your nail or the edge of the ice wedge and pop those spots right off.
