Hmmm... I know it's a ridiculous amount of money, but I guess they kind of deserve it since they sold the name to begins with.

"GT" just doesn't sound right... so generic.

I bet they'll think twice about selling off the Edsel name now.

I thought this was old news..?

quite a while back, they said they could not call it the GT40 since it was not 40 inches high, as was the original. the new one is something like 43.7 or 46.7 inches, so GT40 would be an inaccurate name. This was months ago. Maybe I'm just confusing 2 different stories.

GT (just my initials, not some newfound Fomoco love)

lol :D You gotta stay up on things if you want to contribute around here!

And regardless of the new car's height, they wanted "GT40" but it was registered with a parts supplier in Ohio that wanted big $ for it. So it's called just "GT" and Ford's spin is that this is what the original cars were initially called, and then the GT40 nickname stuck.

Taking a hint from Porsche and their Carrera GT maybe. Trying for that upscale sound.

Unless you just really don't like retro, rerun design, I don't know what's not to like about it. I've seen it in person. It's a very attractive car. With only 1500 (if I remember right) being produced over a 3 year span, there's a good chance you won't see one.

I just don't think it should be produced, it should be one of those supercar concepts that never get put into production...

 So what's the point of building a concept supercar if it doesn't go into production...unless you're Cadillac with the Cien. That car SHOULD be built in similar numbers to GT, talk about a Caddy image booster. I can't think of any reason why you'd buy a Ford GT over a 700 HP V12 Cien. :D

I kinda like it.

I don't think I'd call it retro in design because it's not Thunderbird/SSR/Mini/PT Cruizer/or Beetle-ish in nature, or a cartoonish rendition of a previous era. It's certainly modern in design, and it most certainly doesn't look like it's a throwback to a bygone era.

Just my 2 cents.
