Your thoughts - exhaust or none - turbo

I'm finishing up my turbo build and have got to run the car a few times and drive it once.

Currently I have @ 8" worth of downpipe dumping at the front of the car. The turbos do a real good job of toning down the noise. Honestly its ALOT quiter than duals with bullets were and probably about as loud as when I had my sweet thunders ran over the axle.

Anything above idle/cruise and the turbos are just as loud as the exhaust...

I have a set of 40s I was going to run dumped at the axle, but they would be pretty restrictive @ 600hp - but would be almost stock quiet/sleeper...

Thoughts? I don't have inspections, and the cops are not too bad, I have only been bitched at about exhaust after being stopped for something else. I don't think I am really hurting anything. Dumped low enough it shouldn't heat the bay.

Like you said, if it's not going to hurt anything and it's not to loud, why bother. Not that this helps, but 30 years ago I don't believe my buddy had anything after the downpipe on his turbo'd 289 Pinto. I don't remember it being very loud at all.

PLEASE don't put 40s behind a turbo.....

turbos love open exhaust and I think you'd be much better off with something large and straight through. I'm thinking dynomax ultraflo or magnaflow....4" or so.

If anything I'd just some pipes out the back. Would not use mufflers, just pipes.

I drove it a short bit again today, its noisy but not obscene. I am going to leave it the way it is now.

Didn't get to go very far, I blew another oil line - switched to hard lines and I should get to tune some more tomorrow.

Just to add some more thoughts if anyone esle ever reads this...

I think I am going to run some exhaust, maybe not all the way back to the axle. My new problem is heat. I have a 160, low fans always on, high @ 175, stock radiator. There is so much under hood heat I just can't get the thing to cool back down where I want it.

I think that at least getting the exhaust gasses out from under the hood should help, at the very least it will keep me from sucking it back through the intake. I may go under the kmember for now, I am running low on mandrel bends, and don't really want to order an entire other box right now.

Nothing really showing the exhaust, I'll get some up in a bit.

I have some ideas to try out when I get home tonight, may go under the k member, may just bring my dumps lower and more towards the wheels.

I ran the dumps down to @ the bottom of the bumper, turned a 90 elbow pointed out @ 45 towards the wheels, they dump on either side right where the k member meets the a arm.

So far temps seem to be much better under the hood.

Pics I have taken so far:
