NEw front swaybar hits front brace bracket..what to do?

Installed a BMR front swaybar, and it hits the bracket where the front little bracing bolts to at each corner when going over bumps.

I noticed the endlink spacers are almost an inch longer than what the stock ones were, which makes the swaybar ends sit higher..and closer to this bracket. Should I trim the spacers down some to more like stock lengths???

Well as a test I unbolted the endlinks, then reinstalled using the stock long bolt and the stock spacer...used the new poly bushing and bushing caps... This time, the bolts lined up much better. With the long spacer, the bolts were so ****-eyed that you couldn't get a socket on the bottom bolt head because its recessed in the lower CA and it was so crooked that the socket couldn't get on it..... Now its much better.
Took it for a drive and no more hitting....guess I'll just leave the stock spacer on there for now....
I emailed BMR, see what they recommend...

Thanks. It seems to be working fine this way. The bracket it was hitting BTW is the one that a support rod bolts to that connects the end of the frame rail/k-member front to the center section of the K-member just under the crank pully...has a single bolt in each end.

This swaybar makes a heck of a difference in handling too!

Which car is this on? Doesn't sound like a 4th gen part.

Yes, it was my '95 TA. The endlink spacer was just so much longer than the stock spacer.
Not all 4th gens had the support braces on the front of the K-member I guess as I noticed the pic of the bar on the BMR site with it installed did not have the braces. They are just 2 little support rods that attached to the front corner and the center section of the K-member.

Here's a pic that shows part of the support bars I'm talking about..the pic doesn't show the part that hits as that wasn't what this pic was for, but shows them bolted to the center part of the K-member.

Could be I guess, same bars are also on my '99 TA. There's some on the back side of the center section too tying the rear part of the K-member to the center.
Hate to remove them and grind the mount tabs off, but I may grind off some of the material there as it does hit still on real big bumps.

That is really strange. I have never seen those support bars on any firebird, Trans Am or WS6. I did not have those bars on my 96 WS6 when it was stock with the stock K-member ?

hmm, that is strange..the '95 is not a WS6 but my '99 is and they both have them, I'll get a pic of them in a sec. The is one dam nice and clean undercarriage!! Sweet

The front one, keep in mind the car is up in the the air now and the wheels are hanging down so it looks like there is plenty of room, but there only about 1" when its sitting on the ground:

I have never seen those before, just amazed :eek: I guess the idea would be to add some structural strength, but the stock K-member is a stout piece ! I'm not sure the added items will really make much difference on an already strong factory K-member ?
