I was in my automatic z28 when one of the new CLs500's pulled up next to me. I nailed it quicker than him and got a head start, he followed and caught up once I put on the brakes.
We were then cruising at around 50 km, I edged off the gas, making the automatic trans shift into 3rd gear (I think thats what it does, just gotta feel for it.), putting the engine into its optimum rpm range.
He nailed it, then I nailed it half a second later, even with his headstart the z28 caught up and edged out his car by a fraction of a meter. After that I shot ahead of him, I assume he put on his breaks.

All in all the Z did pretty well. If anything, the Z28 is slightly quicker than a CLS500. I was quite surprised since these cars come with a 7 speed automatic transmission, giving him a big advantage gearbox wise. On top of that, these cars are pushing out around 380hp, and almost 400 lb-ft of torque, all for the price of $80,000. All that to be beaten by a lowly Z28, produced 6 years before it.

GM V8's =

Sorry to burst your bubble but it only has 302hp and 339ftlbs. You must have been reading the metric outputs. The killer is it weighs 3995lbs.

Your car should have pulled harder seeing as it is a LS1.

Nice kill by the way.

Wait actually you forgot that the new cls got an upgrade in torque and Hp this model year, so actually those numbers were right.
