Getting out Nasty Scratch?

When we were camping we picked up a Nasty scratch on the Tahoe, it's Pewter color and it's from the RRear wheel well to the tail light so about 2-3 feet long.

I think it was caused by someone careless with a beach chair since the parking was tight.

I waxed it down, then used some Race Glaze stuff to clean it up. but it's still there. It passes the finger nail test (except for one small part) so I used some Turtle wax Compound, but still wasnt able to remove it.

I've made mistakes in the past going too far and scratching so dont want to do that again.

My father by accident also backed into a tree so it needs a new bumper too, so I might have the body shop look at it, but any products I should try or am missing short of wet sanding?

You can use some 3M 1200 or 1500 grit wetsand paper. Go slow so not to go through the clear. You might not be able to go down far enough to pass the fingernail test , but it will appear to be less of a scratch if you work it. Use a good rubbing compound to get the sandscratches out.

That is a good way to go if heavy cut didn't work...just dont sand too much or else you will be looking for a new paint job coming your way....

hope that helps

Thanks. I actually kept compounding it and worked it down (didnt damage the paint) only I can see it now but I'll probably have the shop do it over since I also noticed another deeper problem I'll have them do too.
