me vs 03 mach 1

So i see this mach 1 when my buddy and i are leaving target...its pretty loud. We end up catching a light on this straight stretch with no one in front of us. I roll til about 5 mph then gun it (so i wont spin) and i hear him spin (5 spd). I stay about 1-2 cars ahead until about 90, where he slowly starts pulling on me. He was in front of me by around 105. I stopped beside him at the next light, give him the :thumb: and ask what he has done, but he must not have heard me because he told me "its the 40th anniversary 32 valve."

I think my 10 year old intake/exhaust car runs pretty good :thumb:

I looked up the stats on one....4.7 0-60 and 13.2 1/4. I think i did okay lol. Now i just need to put the cam in.

They're stronger on the top end than the numbers would indicate. I ran one in my Stealth (from a slow roll, negating the launch) and we were very close even after 100. I may have had a car at the most. I don't know if he had anything done - maybe the usual intake/gears/exhaust most Mach 1's seem to come with off the showroom :D

i found a website with a bunch of stock vehicle times. They say they have to have a magazine or website test so theyre not just made up numbers.

That car must have been a factory freak, especially considering the noted 0-60 time.

Not whatsoever.
Before I sold my 04 Mach, she ran a 13.39 @ 104 first trip ever to the track. I think another member on here...Mighty ran similar times.
If the Mach can hook up it can give an LS1 fits as its probably the fastest of any of the Mustangs produced to date with exception of the blower cars. Very underrated car. They compare the hp numbers of the Mach with the S197 Mustangs of to day, but my Mach put down several of these cars at the tracks. Not a killing mind you, but still beat them.

Don't feel bad about getting beat by one of those, there is one near Austin with bolt ons, gears, slicks, and weight reduction running 12.3-12.4. This guy has this thing tuned good and runs 11.4 with a 100 shot. I am not usually impressed with the newer mustangs but this one is impressive...Actually the only newer mustang i am very impressed with.

Yeap sounds like you have a good running 97...also sounds like he needs some more seat time in the Mach...Seen several Mach 1's running deep in the 13's stock...i think the best Ive seen to date was a 04 Azure blue cut a 13.1@104.xx stock down to the paper filter @ Atco. Good runs !

It's the 0-60 time that has me more perturbed, especially since they are no low-end monsters.

Mach 1's have a very good low end because of the gearing, Thats basically what makes it faster then the new edge cobras. Mach's and ls1's run very similar stock w/ the mach trapping a few mph's slower.
Sounds like you need to do some research on Mach 1's because it sure doesnt sound like you know what your talking about.

From the reviews that I recall reading, the car had a 0-60 in the low 5's. I'm sure if you were to do a Google search you would find those times noted as well.

I guess I just don't have to worry about those cars very much.:p

Looks like I'm a year and a half late seeing this but the low 5 sec. 0-60 time is for the automatic. Some magazines specify how they achieved the performance times. Some speed shift and some don't. I'm sure the LS1 and Mach are pretty much the same times in the 1/4 though.

If you want to compare against the LS1 with that magazine, you should forget about the Mach 1 completely. According to the results they've found, the LS1 compares better with that convertible Cobra. They've tested a couple different LS1s in the F-body, both dipping into the 12s. A best of 12.89 @ 109 was seen back in 1998!
