THANKS for your input.
Greed4Speed 08-22-2007, 11:50 AM Spohn, because all that extra bracing isn't needed.

Really? I wish I would have asked before installing the KBDD subframe and the Spohn chassis mounted TA that connects to it, which Steve thought was the way to go.
ssvegas 08-22-2007, 01:25 PM Zrated, are you saying the spohns TA is worthless or the KBDD SFCs are no good?
what are KBDD SFCs?
ABA383 08-22-2007, 04:27 PM I think the Spohn one's will be fine...I have a set of Hotchkis on mine since 1995 and they are similar in design...There's a custom shop around here that makes their own out of CM and they are the best I've ever seen for fit, finish, etc and they are the 2 point style...Guys in the 8s and 9s use them so I guess they are working...

Both are excellent pieces. The Kenny Brown Double Diamond sub-frame connecter might be overkill, but I wouldn't change a thing. The Spohn front mount of the TA ties into it, to make one very solid set-up. Steve at Spohn, said this was a fine way to connect the TA. Rick
Bud M 08-23-2007, 12:15 AM I'd go with boxed BMRs, they make a good place to put a jackstand
But between those 2, probably the Spohns. I dont think the extra bracing on the UMIs is all that valuable unless you have a tunnel mount torque arm.
karpetcm5 08-23-2007, 02:59 AM I have the spohns works perfect for me plenty of ground clearance even with a 2 inch drop immediatly noticed a nice difference especially getting in and out of driveways and ofcourse cornering as well. Car feels way more solid, well worth the mod for me.
ssvegas 08-23-2007, 06:58 AM thanks for the input fellas. think i'll just get the spohns. im getting spohn LCAs and SA panhard installed next week!

Pay the little extra and get the adjustable panhard rod. That way you can keep the rear of the car centered over the rearend. This is a must have for using drop springs or even if the stock ones start to sag a little.

Its a daily driver, not a drag car.
Who ever Steve is. Talk to Sam Strano and see what his opinions on SFC's are in general. Even if dragging is your thing, there are plenty of 11 and 10 sec cars not running a DD set up w/out issues so why add the weight? ;)
ssvegas 08-23-2007, 10:54 AM yea im not adding them for cornering...i've talked to sam.
but i do want to tighten things up.

Your right. What was I thinking? All that weight from the extra support is useless. And yeah, who's Steve anyways.
ABA383 08-23-2007, 05:59 PM Steve is Steve Spohn...He may know a few things about drag racing...who knows?;)

Greed4Speed 08-23-2007, 08:50 PM Hmmm...you'd think Sam Strano would know a thing or two about suspensions and chassis also. You'd also think all these other companies that sell tubular SFC's w/out the cross bracing would know something too. Or maybe all the shops and individuals not running crossbracing on their drag cars.
Does it hurt? No. Is it necessary? No. Does a daily driven car need a full cage? No. Does it hurt? No, but it looks cool and you can add it to your sig!
n2ceptor 08-23-2007, 11:23 PM I went with http://www.bmrfabrication.com/F-bodyChassis.htm SFC004 - Hardtop Tubular Subframe Connectors(1993-2002 F-body) for my '93Z DD.... Had them since 2001 and no problems....:)
Good ground clearance......
mrz28 73/97 08-26-2007, 08:04 PM I like the SLP weld ins or the UMI setup, I'd rather have the extra bracing, I've had two 97 SSs' and I'm picking up my third next weekend. On my first one I had Global West round tube that fit next to the rocker panel and they stiffened the car but on my second car I had the SLP weld ins and the car felt much stiffer and I like the way the car felt. I'm going to get the Slp weldins for the new one as well.
ssvegas 08-27-2007, 10:46 AM thanks for all the input.
i just bought an SLP LM II so the SFCs will have to wait a bit.
but thanks again...i'll probably go with the 3 point.
