My Stang vs C6 vette

Well, We just got the car tuned and wanted to take it to the track this past weekend. It was hot as hell and hardly anyone showed, except the usual crowd of ricers messing up the water box for everyone

We are trying to get every thing in place and this older guy, (mid 50s) walks over and says what a nice stang I have. I didnt want to be rude, but was working on air pressure in the tires, taking junk out and checking the oil ...prep work (if you will). And I had already been bombarded with about 10 fender lizard ricers.

(For those of you who dont know what a fender lizard is...
A fender lizard is one or more people that continually lean over your engine bay while you are working and ask stupid questions, or tell you about their brother in laws car thats exaclty like this...you know the type)

The guy tells me that him and his friends are down from Rock Hill with their vette club and was looking to see what they would do. He caught my attention then and I stopped what I was doing to talk to him. At first I thought he owned a C5 and was giddy about trying my luck with him, but when he said it was an 06 model I got a little shaky and didnt want to get imbarrassed. Plus , the way he came over talking to a Stang guy, then proceeded to ask if I wanted to run em... sounded like a hustle to me. Although, he didnt want to run for any money or anything, I figured he wanted to just make me look bad in front of his buds.

Well, we talk a bit and I find out that he is completely bone stock and I agree to just "see what they will do"

Both of us on street tires, so I figure he is going to kill me all the way around. We line em up and the tree drops and we both get a decent hooking 60' ...me 2.06 to his 2.15

I kept expecting him to blow by me at any moment, but he didnt...to a point. We finished the 1/8th mile trap at me... 8.55 to his 8.59, So close it was scary!!! ,but then as we kept in it down the 1/4 mile he pulled ahead big time on the top end! That big motor got to breathing and he came by me to a final tune of... me...13.36 to his 13.08

We never ran again as he was bieng challenged by his brother in his 04
Z06 and they made about 50 runs back to back to back hot lapping.

I made a few ricer destrying runs and then packed it up for the evening, but was pretty satisfied with the way things turned out.

I can now say that I beat a C6 in the 1/8th mile, but I learned if your going to run these awesome machines, you better get it over quick. Because they will pull on you on the top end like a freight train.

Anyway, thats my yearly kill / killed story.

Good runs. Did you happen to notice the results of the c6 vs. Z06 contest? I'd be very interested in that.

Believe it or not...
The same C6 beat the Z06 three times I saw them run.
Driver error came into play big time as the Z06 wouldnt baby it out of the hole and the guy would hit the rev limiter spinning wildly through 2 gears. He would then let out to gain traction and was bus lengths behind the C6.
I think he ran a 14.36 best
Some people shouldnt even be allowed to get in cars like that if they have no clue how to drive.
I was hoping for a better match up to see the difference, but not on this visit. There was even a 300zx that beat him!

now everybodies going to say how crappy the ZO6s are cause they beat one once and that they only run 14s.

At 88 degrees F and above our cars computer pulls out about 8 degrees of timing, about another 2 tenths, heat is a bit*h. The guy in the ZO6 couldn't drive for sh!t.
