1SlowFormula 08-18-2007, 11:35 PM The weather was decent today and I wanted to tweek with my tune as well as tune the suspension so I hit a Test & Tune session at my local track...
I was happy when right off the trailer and todays baseline looked like this:
60' ... 1.676
330 .. 4.968
1/8 ... 7.752
MPH . 87.98
1000 10.150
1/4 ... 12.161
MPH . 112.64
A few changes got me to:
60' ... 1.655
330 .. 4.932
1/8 ... 7.704
MPH . 88.28
1000 10.100
1/4 ... 12.107
MPH . 112.76
Playing with it a little more got me to 12.0's, an by this point it was well into the afternoon and hotter:
60' ... 1.642
330 .. 4.921
1/8 ... 7.694
MPH . 88.36
1000 10.085
1/4 ... 12.088
MPH . 112.99
I followed that up with another new best of:
60' ... 1.639
330 .. 4.910
1/8 ... 7.684
MPH . 88.29
1000 10.076
1/4 ... 12.078
MPH . 113.16
Just another lightweight bolt-on LT1 car... :p

James Montigny 08-19-2007, 01:00 AM That's pretty quick for a bolt-on car man, Gratz :)
Do you know what it's weighing in at ?

The last time I weighed it we were at 3190 with me in the car, that was a few weeks ago, I think today it might have been +- 5# today depending on fuel level. The car itself is about 2975 depending on fuel level, and I try to only keep between .5 - 1.5 gal. in the tank, but one time today I lost track of the number of runs I had and ran out of gas in the staging lanes, with keeping it that low the gage is alway on empty...

Wow, that's light LOL.
I was looking at some of your pics on another site, nice work man.
Mine's a pig compared to that.
I worry a little about you keeping the tank that low, it seems like the fuel pump might overheat.
Then again, that's an extra 10-20lbs you don't have to lug around.
(I run with about 4gal)
Great times though. keep up the good work :D

For a little more then a year and a half now it has been stuck at 11.805 @ 113.96 set by Shon Herron of http://www.herronperformance.com one of the boards sponsors...
Damn that car is light:bow: I wish mine was that light, then she'd be on the bumper for sure. Nice times for the mods.:D

:D Thanks guys...
Randy - what weight reduction have you done?
just the simple stuff, front bumper support, carpet, seats, and little things. I'm about 235lbs, so that puts the car at around 3150, so if I could knock another 150lbs off I'd be happy. Just like it sits it should run high 6.60's this fall and I think I need to have it retuned again, it's a tad lean for what I need.

1SlowFormula 08-25-2007, 09:21 PM Ok I was getting the car ready for my race tomorrow, and decided to change the oil since I honestly don't remember when I last did it, well I was working off the 3000 miles thing but forgot that I don't drive the car on the street anymore... So I decided to try royal purple, it is actually purple oil  , and when changing it the old stuff was black, and when I pulled off the oil filter I found that it was the same one in there when I installed the headers last year in May because there are still marks on it from the header install...
I also checked my fuel filter, and it was pretty dirty too, and realize it hasn't been changed in over 4 years...
I guess we'll see what tomorrow holds since I actually did some maintenance on this damn car, I wonder if this would be enough for 11's, I guess only the weather will tell...

I pulled the pan this last winter after running RP oil and will never use it again. It had an 1/8'' of black coating on the windage tray and the pan bottom after just 2 seasons of using it. Keep in mind that my car goes one season on the oil, that's 100 miles. Never had that with other oils.

1SlowFormula 10-02-2007, 11:33 PM I have only been back to the track once since then, and was having traction issues so I asked the wife to take a vid from behind, then I had this 12.0 pass (http://www.fquick.com/videos/12.0_Bolt-on_LT1/3382) in 80+* temps and 1800+' DA...

1SlowFormula 11-14-2007, 06:44 PM I know, and I am pissed that I have not been able to get out to the trackand actually this is the first chance I have had to get online in over a month... 80+ hours of work a week sucks...
I am debating on going to a track rental this weekend if they still have an opening.
3DFORMULA 11-15-2007, 10:00 AM Those are some good #'s. I'm kinda lovin' the stock motor #'s I'm getting. I'm gonna do some more suspension and lightening this winter, before putting on the, shelf sitting, pacesetters and 1.6rr. I'm shooting for 12.5 before the power adding.

I would love to but due to my projects at work I am putting in a hell of a lot of time there, 96 hrs overtime in my last 2 week cycle. so the money is coming in which is helpful but I have no time to take the car out. I am hoping if the local tracks stay open a litle longer I might get my workload lightened in a few weeks, and can get to the track then, if not then next season, and I plan on being at the shootout so it would be cool if I can have a good showing there too if I didn't break the record before then... ;)

yea that would be pretty cool.... one ? bout ur setup why the 3500 stall not the 3600?

12SCNDZ 11-25-2007, 11:32 PM Hey, John. We're shooting for 2 record holding cars here. Sam Harvey ran 11.01 yesterday, at Cecil, with one of our 4L60E's in his stock internal LS1 car. We also watched Gavin Downes run his best ever (10.80) pass in his Grand National with one of our 2004R's. Not to mention that I went 10.87 @ 125 MPH in our '70 Camaro...With an untouched 4 year old n/A 386 SBC, and a 4 year old CPT TH350.
See, it's all in the transmissions:cool:

I agree, Frank...
But good news, I am still making progress. I finally got the car out for some testing for the first time this season and the day went something like this...
First pass 11.945 @ 114.43, with a headwind
1.640 60'
7.616 1/8
89.38 MPH
11.945 1/4
114.43 MPH
Second pass 11.947 @ 114.83, with the same headwind
1.637 60'
7.633 1/8
89.75 MPH
11.947 1/4
114.83 MPH
Third pass 11.912 @ 114.98, with the wind letting up and slower 60'
1.694 60'
7.610 1/8
90.10 MPH
11.912 1/4
114.98 MPH
Final pass of the night 11.860 @ 115.09, after it cooled off a little
1.639 60'
7.562 1/8
90.19 MPH
11.860 1/4
115.09 MPH
I will post up the slips after I get camera batteries, I was hoping to have vids of it but the camera died when my wife started recording the first pass...
Shon Herron 04-17-2008, 10:53 AM heck yeah!! the MPH is getting there!!
you are so close, do you know the DA? these cold fronts have helped and extended teh good air season.
Congrats!!
How much more weight can you remove? or get the 60' down, the 1/8th mile is very close to my car...
I am sure you have but what about lock up timing, have you messed with that?
Man you are so close, I am happy for you but sort of wondering if I should try again, LOL.....

1SlowFormula 04-17-2008, 11:15 AM Shon, there is still a lot of weight left to pull, but it all costs money at this point...
Things like !ABS, !PB, K-member, Lightweight Brakes, manual rack over the looped stocker...
I am looking into getting suspension stuff soon since most of the suspension is still stock, if I can knock the 60' down and pull out a little more weight then I know it should be mine...
I know the air is not going to get any better but I am planning on doing LCA's and relo brackets within the next few weeks to see if that helps...
I am still researching torque arms, but not sure if it is needed yet...
let me find a calculator and see what the DA was during that run...
Shon Herron 04-17-2008, 11:20 AM As stated before, I will help you out on the parts you need, just run a sticker for me :D and put me in your sig like you got frank's;)
LW brakes and Manual Rack would be killer weight reductions items but very expensive in my opinion....

1SlowFormula 04-17-2008, 11:44 AM Oh I plan on taking you up on that offer, Shon... :D
I just need to research and figure out what I am getting, and how much it will cost, then run the numbers by my race team treasurer, my wife...
I did a little digging on the weather...
at 7:51 there was a -200ish DA with a 11.5 MPH headwind
my first run was at 8:19
at 8:51: -340ish DA, 9.2 MPH headwind
my second run was at 9:06
my third run was at 9:45
at 9:51: -400ish DA, 5.8 MPH headwind
my last run was at 10:09
T/A lt1 04-17-2008, 12:40 PM Awesome runs for boltons! If you can get that car to 60' in the 1.5's you'll run mid 11's. Believe me I raced against Steve Stumph with his bolton 11.90 Lt1 car here at No Problem. He consistantly cut low 1.5's but he also had relocation brackets or his car would wheelhop. Goodluck Clint
1SlowFormula 04-17-2008, 04:48 PM yeah LCA's an relo brackets are being ordered shortly...
tomcowle 04-17-2008, 10:32 PM Damn, that eastern seaboard air is great this time of the year, great runs John!!
Weather permitting, I'm taking my crack at it for the first time this year. Hopefully I can hustle the car back together before saturday.

how much do you weight?
mine was 3150ish with a 240# driver. so the car was 2910. Just wondering where my weight was at since you do not have a K-member/A-arms and a few other things. I know the TA is heavier than stock and the Rear sway bar I used was heavier than stock but where else is my weight at.....
