Just how retro will the new Camaro be? Will it come with these?

Separate door and ignition keys.

I sort of like having the 2 keys rather than just one -- maybe partly because every car I have had for the last 25 years was so equipped.

I like only having one key and a key fob on my keychain, in fact I'd be more than happy if they could just make it the key fob...less I'd have to carry in my pocket

No,, I meant for that one car...

my keychain includes

3 car keys for 3 seperate cars
1 key fob for my Colorado
2 house keys, one for my house, one for my friend's house I'm crashing at over the summer
and a work key....

...and a craftsman 4 size flattip screwdriver

I've got a serious keychain:
2 keys for my house (doors and garage doors)
Key to my brother's house
2 keys for the Bronco
2 keys for my parents' house
And one random one that I don't know WTF is
Plus a cigar punch for good measure.

Gotcha. I keep a separate ring for the bike, with just the bike key and the key to my chain lock. I just don't like having 47 keys flapping around on my triple clamp.

i don't have too much on my keychain

durango key
durango key fob
2 keys to my place (one for the back door/garage and one for the front door)
1 key to my parent's place
1 key to my friend's house
1 key for work
1 key for my trailer hitch lock
bottle opener

definitely 1 key.. even though my Camaro came with 2.. i don't have both on the keychain.. jsut the ignition key and the key fob.. i keep the door/glovebox/t-top key in my wallet just in case i lock my keys in the car.. also a spare set of both key in my apartment

as for mey keychain.. you asked for it..

i have a.. what i like to call.. modular keychain.. it's got 3 different rings.. (ooh i found a picture of it: )
http://www.hardwarestore.com/media/product/682229_front200.jpg

so.. on the 3 parts i have car key, home keys, and work keys... it's nice cause at work i can seperate the work keys and just carry them in my pocket with the rest of the key stowed away for the day.. if i go out i leave the work keys at home and just take car/home keys.. or if i don't need the car keys i'll just take the home keys..

anyway..
Blue:
Camaro Key Fob
Camaro Ignition Key

Middle:

thermostat key

You've probably already seen the key for the new Camaro...they're just going to pull it from some other car that's in production.

I'm a big fan of the VW/Audi switchblade key thing, also the one for smaller Volvo's that's basically just a fob that sticks into the dash.

I'd much prefer have a seperate fob from the key. I hate my Aveo's key with the buttons on it. Keys are getting too large.

That said, I'd prefer 1 key. I can't even remember the last time I used a key to open my car door. Uh... Not since early 2000 actually.

I'd like a single key with an integrated fob. :D

What I'd really like is a "valet key" that starts the engine with some different parameters. No more than 33% throttle, 3000 rpm rev limit... you get the idea.

i think i like the fact of having 2 keys or atleast a key over having the key fob. my dads got a c6 and we all know it has the push button. thats cool and all but i like turning the key and cranking over the motor rather than pushing a button. doesnt seem too reliable to me.

Cat(erpillar) key (universal)
Bobcat key (universal)
John Deere Key(universal)
Shop universal key
Tool box at work
Mail box
Quad lock
and some house key I can't figure out what it goes to.

It sounds to me like you and people you know have fallen victim to some poor design choices that had nothing to do with the reliability of the pushbutton itself.

i cant stand those key pads on fords. i never understood what the hell those were for. yeah if you lock your keys in i guess but from personal experience i have never locked keys in any of my cars.

I felt that way also until I tried it. Somtimes I'll just lock my keys in on purpose when hiking or mountain biking so as to not lose them or have them in the pocket.
I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to get somthing out of the car and forgotten my keys.
Also, I used to not lock the car until going to bed(it is in the driveway), but with the keypad I lock it all the time.
YMMV

http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/media/reviews/top10/most.fabulous.key.fobs/lexus.500.jpg

Though nothing like a Bentley or a Mercedes-Benz fob, the latest Lexus fob is unique in its own right. "Even how the key feels in your hand was a consideration for our design," remarked Lexus' Mitchell. Made of silver-colored plastic, the current Lexus fob was sculpted with unique curves to rest naturally in your palm. Lock and unlock buttons are implanted into the plastic while the trunk-open and panic buttons sit on a convex surface. A new card key will debut on the Lexus LS 600h, coming in April 2007. As thin as one or two credit cards, it will feature an embossed "L" mark in chrome. The card key will act as an electronic identification for the vehicle, granting both keyless entry and engine startup.

I prefer Audi though.

Mazda has a similar 'smart key' with a back-up metal key that will get you into the car if the battery dies.

The Colorado has a key, but I only have to turn it just enough to reach the start position. The engine will crank on its own until it starts. Then if it doesn't start after about 3 seconds it will stop and try again 2 seconds later.

Yes, that is different. The "Smart key" you just have to have on your person when you get in. You then (depending on car) push the start button or twist a placibo key (removable cover that hides the hole where you put the backup key should you lose/brake the S-K). You then drive on your merry way with the key still hidden on your person.

A remote start just fools the car into starting w/o you in it. To drive it you still need to put your key into the ign cyl and turn to "on".
