Interesting press release on Chrysler engines
Interesting press release on Chrysler engines
I didn't see anything about this on this forum.
Of note is that Chrysler is promising a light duty diesel after 2009 and an updated Hemi for 2009. Also info about their new V6 and hybrids.

Anyway, there was a link that led to the people doing the testing of the 1/2 diesel and V6 diesel for the Durango. If I remember right, they both had predicted fuel economy and it is suppose to be the same to that hybrid Tahoe. They both were suppose to have similar torque to that of the best of the big gas V8s from anyone.
EDIT: I found a link that talks about the V6 diesel and the V8 diesel that I was talking about. It is not the same page, since the one I saw I believe was from the original designers, but it is close enough and covers almost all the information I saw on the page. Here is the link
and an interesting quote:
After reading that and realizing that it was done for the DOT, but was done by Cummins, I think similar results can be expected from the Dodge truck. It would be nice if they did put a diesel in the Durango.

In a test of a Durango SUV with the 4.7L gasoline V-8, engineers measured a combined city/highway rating of 15.3 mpg. The diesel V-6 achieved 22.1 mpg in the same test, a 44 percent improvement. The diesel V-8 in the Ram 1500 did even better with a 49 percent improvement. It scored a combined city/highway rating of 21.7 mpg, compared to a Hemi that was rated at 14.6 mpg. In highway driving simulations, the diesel Durango made 25 mpg and the Ram 1/2-ton sipped just 24.6 mpg of diesel.
