My buddy and I want to race eachother pretty soon. He has a 2002 WRX (non-sti) with a catback. I raced one like his but with a catback and BOV. He revved up, I stayed at idle, and we both hit it. He had gobs of traction and I had severe intersection dips and didn't catch and pass him until after 70.
With my friend, he says he's going to rev up to about 5k and drop it and go. How should I go about trying to not get all messed up on the launch?
How do you guys go about racing these little suckers?

Go to a drag strip where you don't have intersections.

The best way to get those little suckers is traction. Get the car to hook and they are not hard to beat.
The look on thier face when you holeshot that little all wheel drive car is pretty funny.

A buddy has one. He does get it out of the hole. He runs low 13's @ 99 mph every pass. A lot of those guys like to let off the gas around 45mph too. They don't want to be freight-train'd.
