Shift boot ring part number.

Does anyone know the part number for the shift boot ring for my 97 m6 camaro? Or, if you have one you would sell me that would be real fricken cool too.

You might search for some threads about it, but I believe that ring has not been available for a long time.

A guy on ls1tech sells that exact piece you posted. His name is Farmer2 and he makes the shift boot retainer out of metal.

Thats his picture that I posted. I am going to try to match it, I already have about 1000 feet of that metal wire.

I recommend to anyone whos boot ring is broken to try making one out of the wire. It definately works great.

Off the top of my head I would say it was less than three feet of fourteen gauge.

I just brought a length of wire into the car and started bending it with a couple pair of visegrips. Bend-check-bend-check. took about half an hour.

cool thanks for everything im gonna try it tomorrow so how do you like the way it came out can you tell that you used wire hope it works im tired of the shifter boot sinking into the console

i have some 15 gauge wire do you think that will work.

Probably, as long as its stiff enough to hold shape.

yeah the wire will hold the shape it is the kind used to hold you clothes outside

hey i was gonna try to do that shift boot ring thing but where do i attach the wire to do i wrap it around something or does i clip in to something please help thanks.

Hey i finally did this on friday night and it works great thanks for all the help and i recommend if anyone need this part to make it themselves.
