i think most owners manuals (not sure about ours) will say 7000 miles or so, per change, id say your still good to go though.

Yeah most cars are set above the 3K that most people go by, I get a magazine for auto shops through the mail, and it surprised me that no one (that I can remember) from the main car manufacturers went with 3K anymore.

I personally go every 5K.

Alot of people go well over that. I wouldn't worry about it.

All oils break down and get dirty no matter what claims the oil manufacturers make. They also get contaminated with acids. Running a synthetic oil doesn't increase the oil change interval. Recommended oil change interval is 3000MI or 5000KM under normal driving conditions. City driving is not considered normal driving conditions and oil should be changed more frequently.

Not all oils are the same. They all have different additives in them. One of the best oils is Shell Rotella T. It's a diesel oil and is available in 10W30. It has higher levels of zinc and other chemicals that automotive oils have been eliminating or reducing over the years.

I run Rotella T 10W30 in my daily driver truck but I use Penzoil racing oil in my race car because it's more compatible with the alcohol fuel.

Don't want to start a big fight, but you couldn't be more WRONG!!!
The 3000m change interval came out of the 50's and 60's. Time to step into the 21st Century. City driving is not considered normal  I'll quaranty you that oil manufacture's consider city driving completely NORMAL and blend their oils accordingly. Using Diesel oil in your gas power daily driver is an incredibly bad idea.

I would have to say that you are completely wrong. Most car manufactorers now days recomend closer to 7k miles between oil changes. The whole change your oil at 3k has to do with older cars and marketing pretty much. Because the more people that come in for oil changes at 3k the more money places like Jiffy Lube and such make so alot of people come to beleive that it is a need to change oil at 3k due to some companys marketing.

My father had a Duster many years ago - I don't think he ever changed the oil in 40K+ miles - ditto on the '67 Plymouth station wagon I grew up in. Come to think of it, my college roomate had a 80 something Cutlass Supreme that only got oil when the light came on.
In all cases - they were cars that just would not die.

OK. Oil and filter is cheap. How much did you invest in that new car or engine?
