Dull rims

Easiest way and cheapest way to get pretty much new looking rims is to buy new ones? or is there anyway i can polish up these dull things to really make them shine?

A good metal polish and a Mothers' Powerball Mini will work wonders. I use a product manufactured locally called Speedy Metal Polish; others may recommend Wenol, Flitz, Simichrome, English Custom Polishes, etc. Cleaned twenty-five years worth of "dull" from the aluminum rims on my 'Vette.

well its definitely going to take some time.. i did one whole rim.. dont know if its perfect but it is definitely 100% better.

So the long i polish the better it will look? I'm wondering if i have it to its full potential or not.. this my first time doing rims.

I was using bluemagic and i dont think it was doing a very good job, already had it on the shelf.. so i went and just bought some mothers billet and it seems to have worked better.

One more question to throw on all this, i want to get my exhaust tips back to shine.. i know i can just polish it with probably the same stuff, but what can i use to get all the grime off of it, the black little spots, tar and whatnot

Thanks!

My edit... i just thought about it.. did i buy the right polish? billet? or should i have a chrome polish or are they the same?

I spent an hour each on my 'Vette rims. Started with the PowerBall and Speedy and then finished with some Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish. I don't have experience working with Mother's Billet personally, but if that's what you have and it seems to be working...
I would try some Stoner's Tarminator for the tar spots on your exhaust.
