Alright so my car is having problem starting up right away and I need to give it a little gas while starting it to get it running. I took it to a place and they did the diagnostic testing and found that the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and fuel filter need to be replaced costing $876, $355, $80 respectively. Overall it would be almost $1400. That sounds a bit steep.... any suggestions or input on my options? thanks.

I think you need a more detailed diagnosis. Any shop that tells you to replace everything is just looking for money. It may be any of those things, but probably not all.

I suggest you take your car to a different shop or if you can work on it yourself. Check your fuel pressure first to see where its at. After your car actually starts how does it run? If starting is your only issue and it drives fine after it starts then fuel pump isn't the issue.

a buddy of mine is going to help me change my fuel filter and pressure regulator to see if that fixes the problem... are there any 'cautions' I should know about before I do this? Fuel filter seems pretty straight forward but it seems pretty hard to get at the fuel pressure regulator.
What kind of brand do you all use? I'm going to advance auto later today to pick up the parts. Thanks.
