AC Compressor HELP

Been 3-4yrs since I've had any refrigerant in my AC lines so today(95 degrees+) I had a shop pull a vacuum and fill with fluid..

Problem is we couldn't get the compressor to pull in no matter what. Instead of paying him alot of $$$, I thought I would take it home and troubleshoot on my own...he was thinking since I had the custom program in my PCM it could be turned since I didn't have the AC before...

Anyways, I've done alot of troubleshooting and it looks like everything is working correctly to get the power to the compressor.- I pulled off the connector at the compressor and it's getting 12 V so it should be pulling in correct???

It isn't frozen or anything and I tapped on it with a rubber mallet to see if that would get me anywhere..

Any suggestions..

Thanks

Cody

Turn the A/C on MAX, jump the A/C relay, and see if the compressor engages.

No go, i've reset the pcm also. if the compressor has voltage it should pull in right?

Running PCMCOMM , its showing .94 V for A/C Pressure...could that be the issue? I tried jumpering the switch(gray wire to red and clutch still did't engage)

My fans do not come on when A/C is turned on also...

If you jump the A/C relay the compressor will come on no matter the pressure. You may have a bad compressor clutch.

Yes, sounds like a bad clutch coil. If it does not blow the fuse, then the coil may be open, as opposed to shorted. Measure the resistance across the clutch connector (2 blade connector on compressor). It should show some resistance, but not infinite. I don't remember the spec, but it should be between 1 and 10 ohms.

3.8 ohms here and still not pulling in the clutch...I'll try moving the connector around and cleaning the prongs..

Thanks

dont forget about the ground, ohms check from the connector to the negative battery terminal

If you jump the compressor and it does not come on at all... It's definitely done for.

that's what it's looking like but I'm trying force it to work..prybar method didn't work
Anyone know the going rate for a new one from someone like Dal or Jason??

I called my local dealer and they were wanting 699 for the compressor and 100 for the dryer

Thanks guys
