mcalus 07-18-2007, 12:15 AM So...I was on the highway tonight and I was behind a GT 500 (a new one)...Well I got next to it...Then punched it and the guy didn't do anything...Now I just figured he would wait till some cars cleared...So I got in the slow lane and he was behind me...Well there were not any cars in front of us or behind us for a few hundred feet...I slowed down to about 50 mph and he stayed behind me...I was like wtf...What is the point of buying a fast expensive car and not race it at all....So he finally decided to get next to me again as we where approaching some cars....This time I honked 3 times then punched it...still nothing...Well I passed some cars and he had kept up w/ me but wouldn't race??? So then as I was coming up to my exit he blew by me...Of coarse I had a car in front of me but why do people do that??? Grow some balls if you want to race then do it dont make a gumball rally out of it....IMO!!!
He prolly didn't want to get beat by a 14 year old car....!!!
mn96ss 07-18-2007, 04:01 AM Dude not trying to burst your bubble but if that was really a gt 500 you would have had your a$$ handed to you on a silver platter! Cuz according to your sig you only have a cai for mods. Woulda been over before it started.
Pyrodawg 07-18-2007, 04:01 AM get beat? are you nuts? you would have been absolutely raped. You wouldnt be able to keep up with an 03-04 cobra let alone an 07 GT500
IdahoLT1 07-18-2007, 05:23 AM Not only that but he just got done spending $50K+ on that car. No sense in him getting a ticket and that car possibly impounded or losing his privelage to drive it. Its fine that you want to race on the street (your decision) but dont bitch when others dont want to. Take it to the track. And that car would have shown you where you belong on the food chain if he raced.

O I know it....I understand where you guys are coming from....I have another post on here...I raced a SRT-10 and got smoked, its still fun to race even if you lose...I understand why tho...

rickreeves1 07-18-2007, 12:54 PM He probably doesn't street race. Some people don't for good reason. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=532726 The guy in the Mustang was probably laughing.
:D

Mikie 07-19-2007, 05:06 PM They are fast yet still beatable....just not by your LT1
lovescamaros25 07-20-2007, 08:57 AM He would of ate you alive man.All he did is spared you the embarassment.
Jazsun 07-20-2007, 12:11 PM When slow cars or gay v6 mustangs screw w/ me I almost never race. Cuz it will basically cost me a few or so in just gas to take it to WOT for a good 10seconds. It's not worth me losing my license/car/money to race a peice of **** v6 stang which is why I never do it. Now if I'm at a light w/ another f-body or v8 stock stang w/ a high school driver who thinks he's the **** and the roads clear ahead for miles its game.
Now that I think about it, the only time I ever race is when the driver piss'es me off. Mainly by thinking he owns the road. Not really the car too much.
97formulakid 07-22-2007, 07:36 PM I probably wouldn't have raced you either. That expensive of a car and risking getting caught or breaking something would not be worth racing a stock LT1 on the highway. You may like to race even though you might lose but other people might not have anything to prove to you since they know they will probably win. Waste of gas in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly. When a slow car tries to get me to race I just ignore them or sometimes I'll point at them and laugh at them.Racing a car that you know is slower is a waste of time and gas.Nevermind the risk of getting caught streetracing a car that is'nt on the same level of performance is retarded.
Gee, Which car is faster, a 12 second GT500 or a high 13 second CAI LT1? GT500. You don't need to race to know that.
Ultra_Dog 07-30-2007, 02:52 PM I had a C6 that wanted to race the other day, but I had about 1/2 a gallon in my tank and I was babying it to get to the next gas station. He wanted to race, but I couldn't risk it. Maybe he saw the cop car that you didn't??
mcalus 08-05-2007, 10:48 AM I work at a Ford dealership and we just got a GT 500 in and I talked to my boss about it, he is a service manager of the dealership. He said that these cars have something built into there computer or trans or something that only lets them take the car to 3000 rpm's for the first 8000 miles, maybe that has something to do w/ it...
Pyrodawg 08-05-2007, 12:24 PM i highly doubt that, 8000 miles is way overkill for a break in period

No it is not fun to race even if you do lose. That is a poor attitude. If you race just to lose what is the point. If you lose you are suppost to go mod more just so you can go beat what you lost to ;)

I thought so too...But I would think he is going to have a better chance of knowing then I would, but you never know how many miles he had on that...Don't assume that it was broken in already...
Pyrodawg 08-06-2007, 05:42 AM i know someone with a GT500 and he has <5000 miles on his and there is no limiter

Just because he's a service manager is no reason to assume he know's what he's talking about. Do you think anyone on their right mind would buy a ~$50K car and have to drive it for 6 months to 2 years before they could stand on it?

Yea perfect example, my uncle is a head service manager at a large chevy dealer here in jersey,he has a very limited knowledge about z06's, new vettes, etc...even w/ him owning 00 c5 (which he NEVER drives  ). Reason being most of there sales arent performance oriented cars, and they dont work on those cars as much as the trucks, sedans, etc.
