I would like to know if anyone has built a motor to the specs of one of his 'top ten' combos in his book "How to Build Max Performance Chevy Small Blocks On A Budget." If so could they tell me more about it. I'm just wondering how accurate are the numbers he claims. Are they SAE gross or net? I'm particularly interested in motors #2 and 3 if anyone have built anything similar.

Almost anything you see in those books (and most magazines like CHP, Car Craft, etc) is going to be using the STD correction factor and not SAE. They will also be gross numbers since they use electric waterpumps and no accessories.

I can't specifically answer your question. But I do agree with his approach - concentrating on areas where there is a big "bang for the buck". If you look at what a lot of people build, they spend money on expensive bottom end parts they don't need that also don't make power. Vizards emphasis on critical areas which affect breathing makes perfect sense.

Can I get a ballpark of what it would be in SAE hp or 1/4 times for ur 3,800ish car?
