Okay hopefully this weekend will be my first time out to the track. My car is in sig, the wheels are 285/35/18's an i know thats not the greatest for straight line but they do alot better than my old 245's.

Okay launching, I have an A4, how do you guys launch ur pretty much stock cars? Do you load it up at all or just put her down?

Thanks.

ease the pedal down....

lock your ankle and move your whole leg.....ease it down kind of fast, but you will feel the power come on. Just don't everpoer it.....with those 18's its going to spin easy

I would keep it out of the water....
If you can get your 60' down to a 2.0 I would say 14.0 or hi 13's.....don't expect much tho on street tires.

That's exactly what I was hoping for my first time to the track. I hit 13.8 with a 2.1 60' and a cutout. I would definately ease the throttle down and dont do a big burnout, just do a quick spin to get rid of the water. Good Luck!

I would not do no major burnout, because its not gonna help street tires really, when I went I brake stalled it up to 1500ish (where ever stock stall is) then when the lights hit green I just matted the gas, but I also have 235/55/16's. It will take you a few passes to get it all down, then its just hours of fun :D

Rich

He is right, listen to him......drive around it........The big front radials will hold water and leave a trail up to the line.

I try and time it so the two of us are going to the starting line together. Most of the time it works, sometimes it doesn't. Test and tune, so theres a lot of rookies. I try to pre-stage and wait, but lately with the new wheels and tires, 1 out of 4 times, I set off both the pre-stage bulbs at the same time. Like I said though, test and tune, so I really don't care.

You never have to rush at the line. That's one thing that I've learned over the years, do your own thing in your own time frame.
The starter sees the butthead double bulbing and will give you the time to do things right.

I wish I could drive around the water at Atco Raceway. They soak the entrance and there is a wall on either side and there is no room to go around the water :(

You will probably be a little nervous for your first few passes. I remember my foot shaking uncontrollably at the starting line for my fist pass. I was 17 years old though.

When you pull up to the lights, remember to watch the pre-stage beams closely. A lot of noobs drive right past them. The tower announcer tells you to back up, and every has a good chuckle. :) Also remember to have your helmet strapped, seatbelt on, and windows all the way up when you pull up.

If you just mash the gas you will probably blaze the tires, get a 2.4 60 foot and run high 14's. I would start with a very soft launch, easing into the throttle. Give it a little more until traction goes away.

Avoid doing a burnout on regular radials. They usually just get all gummed up and spin worse. A bag of ice to cool the intake between runs can be worth a 1/10th and 1 mph if you let it cool down enough for the intake to get nice and cold. Put a towel under the bad of ice to avoid water dripping down your engine and on the track.
