Ron78Z&01SS 07-06-2007, 01:00 PM .............if the Camaro gets it.
LG Motorsports dyno'd a couple of 2008 Corvettes (an A6 LS3 and an M6 LS3 with "dual mode" mufflers) to get baselines before they started modding them. The post (with dyno graphs) from the Corvetteforum board is below, but in a nutshell:
A6 LS3: 370.8 rwhp and 363.8 rwtq Top of 1st page
M6 LS3: 387.8 rwhp and 377.4 rwtq Bottom of 3rd page

Not sure about you guys, but I'd be happy with an LS3!
skorpion317 07-06-2007, 01:53 PM Judging from those numbers, it sounds like the LS3 is making more like 450 HP at the crank instead of 430.
jg95z28 07-06-2007, 02:10 PM I can't wait to see the numbers on the supercharged version. :D
JeepinMatt 07-06-2007, 07:17 PM For those that don't want to go the supercharger route (I read all through the 6.2 S/C vs 427 thread already) how about just getting the N/A LS3 and stroking it out. Big displacement without the supercharger or higher trim. Add a slightly more aggressive cam if you want and you're probably making comparable power for comparable cost. Just putting it out there, since I haven't heard one mention of an LS3 stroker on any Camaro boards yet
Ron78Z&01SS 07-16-2007, 04:04 PM Being that this is supposedly an "enthusiasts" forum I'm kind of surprised more people haven't viewed this thread. Oh well, for you guys that care about what we'll HOPEFULLY :) have in the 5th Gen:
MTI also Dyno'd a 08 LS3 M6 Vette with the optional exhaust and actually got a little more power. Looks like the LG dyno wasn't a fluke after all.
MTI got:
M6 LS3: 395.3 rwhp and 384.5 rwtq

Z/28lover 07-17-2007, 03:06 PM PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, Let me gat a Maro with an LS3.
I guaruntee, headers, full exhaust, chipped and tuned will belt out 430-450 rwhp.
Z/28lover 07-17-2007, 03:22 PM Here is another LS3 thread.
Only Long Tube Headers and a KNN Filter Charger.
423rwhp 426rwtq
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1749971
Once again reinforcing my point. AT LEAST 440 hp out of a fully tuned car with headers, full exhaust, programmed and tuned.
BAD ASS.
Ron78Z&01SS 07-17-2007, 03:27 PM Funny you should mention that.
LG dyno'd the same M6 after they installed long tubes (no cats), and K&N. BEFORE any tuning they got:
M6 LS3: 423.4 rwhp and 426.2 rwtq Graph is on first post of thread.
Then they installed their "G7X" cam.....STILL no tune!
M6 LS3: 484.9 rwhp and 440.8 rwtq Graph on post #84 (fifth page)
:metal: Absolutely........f-ing........insane! :metal:

Z28Wilson 07-17-2007, 07:02 PM For those that don't want to go the supercharger route (I read all through the 6.2 S/C vs 427 thread already) how about just getting the N/A LS3 and stroking it out.
Don't even need to stroke it. I'd be perfectly happy if the top Camaro (Z28?) got an LS3 with the "LS1 to LS6-type" treatment....more aggressive cam (from what I understand, the LS3 cam is small), and maybe an opening of the heads just a bit (the heads are truly the story). That would be plenty good for me, without the cost/complexity/weight of the supercharger unit and plumbing.
Bump Stick 07-29-2007, 04:24 AM The LS3 is fine for me. Looks like CAI, Full Exhaust, and a Tune and I would be very happy with it in my camaro. They just need to start selling them already.
DrewSG 07-29-2007, 08:58 PM The new A6 sucks that much power? a 17rwhp diffence?
95firehawk 08-03-2007, 01:05 PM For those that don't want to go the supercharger route (I read all through the 6.2 S/C vs 427 thread already) how about just getting the N/A LS3 and stroking it out. That would get you up to the power of a baseline S/C 6.2 but at the sacrifice of driveability and gas mileage. You get to keep the advantages of driveability and mileage with a supercharger plus you have the added benefit of adding 100+ rwhp with nothing more than a pulley and a tune. Thats a whole lot easier and cheaper than the removal and install of a motor's topend. IMO the benefits of a supercharged motor far exceed the extra weight or complexity of the system.
All that aside I would LOVE to see someone build a stroker LS3. I am actually considering doing a LS3 swap into my Firehawk once they are offered as a crate motor and would like to see just what these motors can do.
SoSmoked 08-03-2007, 03:09 PM Oh My God Thats alot of power out of the stock LS3, drool. But I still want a supercharger just for the forged internals. I wonder, If they s/c the ls3. Cause we all pretty much know what a stock motor is capable of handling without changing the internals. Like stock ls1 internals can handle around 500hp and the ls2 is around 600hp. Imagine if a s/c ls3 could be capable of 700+hp. DROOLS...
ToneC 08-03-2007, 03:15 PM I'd take a LS3 with a STS kit.
prophet33 01-06-2009, 05:09 PM i dont think its gonna take much 2 boost the power in these cars
