Choosing 6 x 9 Speakers

I need to select a pair of 6 x 9 speakers, and I want to get the best ones out there.

Before I was thinking of getting Infinity something, because they had the highest RMS rating in Crutchfield. They are rated at 110 Watts.

However after checking the specs on my current speakers (Hifonics) I found out that they are rated at 125. No wonder they sounded so good.

So as it turns out Crutchfield doesn't have that good of a selection.

After some searching I came by speakers from AudioBahn (model: ACX693) which are rated at 225 Watts RMS (not peak).

I'm about ready to get those, but want to hear your recommendations first. Are AudioBahn speakers good? Are there anything better out there?

Thanks for the info!

I don't know what you have against Infinite, but I had them for a long time in my old 88 Camaro. Had the Kappa Series and DAMN they were NICE. I powered them with a RF 200Punch amp and I got excellet quality out of them.

Don't go by the power rating on speakers or subs to determine how good they are. Just because they have a highest power rating don't mean they are the "best". Company's can put whatever rating on there speakers and amps that they want to. It's up the consumer to determine whether or not it's real or not. They are some subs out there that says 2 or 3000 watts rms. Right, whatever. Just because it can handle alot of power don't mean it will have nice sound quality. So don't let the power handing thing fool you. I recommend MB Quart. Their sound quality is awsome and we've put some pretty big amps on them and the do a great job. Remember every speaker and sub is blowable. Distortion is what kills speakers. Even if the speaker can handle the power you give it, if you have it turned up enough that it starts to distort then your gonna kill it. You can do that easier with too little power than too much.

Shawnster's right... don't let #s fool you. I had a Legacy 1200 watt amp in my old Camaro, and it didn't give anywhere NEAR 1200, more like 400 or 500. When you wanna pick something out, go by what you can actually listen to, or what trusted friends have heard or had. Good luck
