best dry traction tire thats still good in rain

looking at maybe a nitto 555 drag radial? My tires are bald and dont hook for crap. Any other recommendations?

I prefer Goodyear eagle GS-C super car tires. They are on the vet and are great wet or dry. Expensive but worth every penny. They run $500-800 on Ebay for 4 used or 250-400 if you only want rear. My old Toyos were expensive but i had no traction when i stomped on it but otherwise they were great.

the tires on there right now are "Merit XSE-V"'s

I just put BF Goodrich KDW2s (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KDW+2) on my car this season

Last meet we got caught in a severe storm for about 1/2 hour on the way home.
No problems what-so-ever in the rain, and Dry Traction is up to par as well:D ;)

GSCs: BWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAAHAHA Not even close to KDW2 in the rain, and in the dry they only have about 75% of the traction the KDW2:eek:

The only bad about the KDW2 is they only come in 18s and up, so New Rims required:cool:

Hard to believe anyone still uses the GS-C's. They were a great tire..... 15 years ago. I had a set of 275/40-17's and they lasted 40K miles and still had 1/3 the tread on them. Decent dry traction, not much in the way of wet. I think they only still make them because they are required to keep making the old tire designs for a certain number of years if they were used as OEM equipment.

At Tire Rack, the survey results for "Ultra High Performance Summer" tires rates the GS-C 36th out of 45 tires.

Im really thinking of maybe going back toa hercules tire, the current tires on my car are still made by hercules, and when they were new they were awesome, but, of course, bald tires dont do so well

I choose the Goodyear ones because they were one of only three tires available on Ebay available in 315/35/zr17 and the other 2 brands were Sumitomo HTR Z (not impressed) and Vredestein (not listed on tire rack). This left a brand i knew, with an easy replacement if one get ruined or i wear them out and want more. The price for 2 new rear tires is around $300 so price is obiviously a key. I can also run my Goodyear F1 275's up front and look somewhat matched, which came with the car. The tread that makes contact with the pavement gives me enough traction for my 350+ hp car. Everyone has an opinion but I have never found a beter tire. Maybe i should try somewhere but Ebay but i love the deals. Every tire i read about claims great dry and wet traction but its hard to find the size i want in a better tire.

Why not just a normal Nitto 555? I have them an have absoletely no problems, pretty good in the rain an great dry traction.

how long have you had them? My merit's were good, but they started wearing down REALLY fast, but they hooked great when they were new, but they are just a soft material. I was thinking of the regular 555's on front, and the DRs on back. I might just run the regulars all around though. Where did you get yours from?

Another vote for KDW2's. I love mine so far and they go well in the rain unless you put your foot to the floor.

i heard amazing stuff bout toyo ra1s ...if your a spirited driver and autoxer theyre great have a good wear consistency and soft sidewalls too that make them good as a d/r very sticky tires... i ran a few autox races and talked to guys with z28s and z06s they all gave it a thumbs up so i bought a set, theyre in the garage and waitin for z06 rims :) cant wait to become captain hook lmao

Ive had them on the car for only three months. I got them from DTD, an i like em so far.

where did u find toyos at? I had proxes on my old honda and loved them, but forgot where i bought them and i can never find toyos :(
