Deal of the century, huh? I'd have to vote for the 2001 Chevy Camaro Z28 at 310hp (more accurately 350hp) and an MSRP of $21,875. IF they bring this 280-285hp Caliber in under 20, it will be $19,995 + destination.for an econobox station wagon with a decent engine. ..I guess that passes for cool these days...

All that horsepower doesn't make it any more attractive to me. If I can't stand the way it looks, I don't care how fast it goes.

Hoo boy...and then buck up for the AWD (if it is offered)...

Man...I thought it was ugly at first when it debuted...but it sure is growing on me and looks better than the Nitro, IMO...

Too bad GM wasn't smart enough to make it work and quit building them....

Ditto. It's still an ugly car.

Didn't they learn their lesson in 1979-80 when they had a hard time selling the turbo Colt?

Too bad it is front wheel drive and the article even states that the computer is going to adjust boost, spark advance and throttle to keep torque steer under control. Doesn't sound like much fun.

I can't stand the way those things look.

I don't think this is revolutionary performance for the dollar, though.

The Mazda Mazdaspeed3 is of a similar price and offers 260-something horsepower and a lighter curb weight than the SRT-4 Caliber will probably have (unless the SRT-4 doesn't gain a pound over the basic non-AWD Caliber).

Like the V8 Colorado thread....

No amount of fast and cheap will get me past how horrid that things looks inside and out. Bad enough the interior already looked sacrified for cost before the big motor was announced.

Plus, these things sit higher and more upright than a car. I'd be surprised if it'll keep up with a MazdaSpeed 3 once off the straight.

I really wonder if these will catch on in the community the way the Neon SRT-4did. They certainly won't handle as well; they're taller, higher center of gravity and weigh more.
