Say im leaving a light and i want to get on it and i mash the peddle, its more of a build up like say the boost gauge on knight rider ha ha. I was in a couple cars the other night and both had immediate response not a build up. Now if im over say 2 or 3k rpms the response is fine its just off the line. I just recently installed a cam and this problem was persistent even before the cam but i rarely drove the car, im back in it more and this is driving me crazy. I adjusted the throttle cables and this isnt the problem, I'm going to seafoam the car over the weekend and see where im at then. I just absolutely HATE the build up to the power not the WHOMP like most of the cars i have been in. Is this something that can be fixed with a tune or what cause its making me sick.

Who did the tune? If it was tuned, did they not give it as much timing because you have a nitrous system?

Sorry man forgot i hadn't updated my sig on here. It has a mail order tune from TSP. Getting it dyno and street tuned soon. This problem was here before the cam though.

They may have left timing out for the N2O, which off the bottle would feel lazy. It's hard to 'guess' what the problem is without a scanner hooked up to the car.

This is a very easy question.

At 237/242 duration @ .050", the MS3 is a very big camshaft for a 346. What you are feeling is a lack of low-end power that the cam doesn't provide. I had the F-15 in my car (236/239) and while it dynoed 415rwhp cam-only, it was extremely lackluster in the low-end dept, but an absolute beast in the upper rpms.

Based on the duration, if I had to guess, it'll make all of its power in the mid-high end from around 4200-6800 rpm with 346ci.

You're going to need at LEAST a 3.90 gear with that camshaft in an F-body. (Although 4.10s would be much better).

I'm upgrading to 3.73s in the near future, however as I said this was happening before the cam also. Will a good dyno tune be able to cure some of this, I know low end grunt is sacrificed for this cam but not to the point im talking about. Its almost sad.

I'd do all the typical tune up stuff before the tune. Fuel filter, air filter, clean the MAF, Clean the TB, New PCV valve, clean the IAC, plugs, and maybe wires if needed.

I have read some different methods, but which is the best way to clean the MAF without damaging it?

Drive to A-Zone type store, pick up can of MAF cleaner (QD Electonics Cleaner) and candy bar of your choice, drive home, remove MAF, spray can thoroughly inside of MAF, reinstall MAF, and enjoy candy bar. :)

You PMed me about this saying that I had the same problem in a post a few years back. I don't remember it. If you link me to it maybe I'll remember. But I always thought that it was just a lack of bottom end, compared to the huge top end of all LS1's. When I need to leave the line quicker I just slip it a little bit. Once the tach passes 2,000 it's got plenty of power for me.
