tire screw question

if wheels have been drilled for screws, and i don't want to screw the tires down, will that affect anything?

Depends how carefully the holes were drilled. They are usually located on the side of the bead, and should not allow air to leak out. If they are going to leak, they will leak with or without the screws...... screws are not "air tight".
