I purchased a set of 17x11 rims and need rubber. I want the car to have the most contact to the pavement as possible without having to pound or move thing to make them fit. I also want the car to look good and have the tires fit correctly. I have 17x9.5 with 275/40/17 in the front and the look is perfect. I would like the side walls to be straight up and down and match the front. Any help would be great.

Im running the same tires as above. They are usually the ones that come on the zr1 wheels if you buy a pre mounted package. I had them on my 97 T/A after a few hours of pounding and grinding and cutting. The sidewalls are picture perfect. Just like the ones that you are running up front. As for the sumitomos; Im not impressed with the performance, but cant bitch do to the price compaired to the other tires. On the vette, the rear end is always sliding out when it shouldnt be... But when you compair $90 to $350 for the price of goodyears, i think i may meet in the middle at $180 and get some drag radials.

Do NOT completely remove the bump stops. They are there to protect the rear shocks and other body parts that can be damaged if the rear suspension over-compresses. All you need to do is grind the projecting edge of the bracket off.
ALL of this is covered in the FAQ, stickied at the top of the Wheels and Tires topics page.
