would there be any gain from running open headers at the track as opposed to the stock pipe w/a cutout?
anything bad that would happen?

Geezer powered 06-10-2007, 08:18 PM Well if you remove the exhaust you got a nice weight savings. Don't really see to much of a difference between the cutout and open headers. 2000GTP 06-10-2007, 08:24 PM would there be any gain from running open headers at the track as opposed to the stock pipe w/a cutout? anything bad that would happen? The tricky thing with open headers is depending on where your 02 sensors lie, incoming outside air can contact them causing false readings and therefore leading to drivability issues. I doubt there will be much if any gain between the header collectors and the cutout. crazydavez28 06-10-2007, 08:40 PM maybe i'll get some 6" turndowns to keep the air out. driveability seemed fine except for the ringing in my ears. p.s. i do not plan on driving it this way much at all, just at the track crazydavez28 06-12-2007, 12:16 AM i drove the car today and it ran fine in open loop but when it statred reading the o2's the driveability went to sucky. definitely gonna put the pipes back on. plus i don't enjoy wearing earplugs when i drive a car! 2000GTP 06-12-2007, 12:25 AM definitely gonna put the pipes back on. plus i don't enjoy wearing earplugs when i drive a car! Yeah, the Nascar sound can get old pretty fast on a street car.:) shock6906 06-13-2007, 11:25 AM Yeah, the Nascar sound can get old pretty fast on a street car.:) I got over it in just two days when I did my headers. It was far too loud to run open headers and it shook the car to pieces. crazydavez28 06-15-2007, 01:25 AM i made some pipes about six inches long with turndowns and that helped the o2 problem and some of the noise inside. however i still put the regular pipes back on but i made them easier to remove for less painful swapping at the track | ||
