Volt Batteries Hopefully Ready By July 2008

This certainly is great news for the development of the Chevrolet Volt.

Over the next 12 months, researchers from, Compact Power, Continental Automotive Systems and GM will be testing the battery-pack designs in the lab and in vehicles to confirm that the packs can work for the life of the car--at least 10 years, says Denise Gray, director of hybrid energy storage devices at GM. Initial tests of individual battery cells, along with projections about the performance of battery packs that can contain hundreds of these cells, have Gray optimistic that her company will have proven packs by June 2008.

I believe they are guaranteed for eight years.

Hybrid-Related Component Coverage: Hybrid-related components, including the HV battery, battery control module, hybrid control module and inverter with converter, are covered for 8 years/100,000 miles. From what I've been able to gather....the design is going to be the holding point and not the technology.

This is CERTAINLY great news for the Chevrolet Volt & GM. We went into this thinking the technology would be the hold up but nope...it's the development of Delta II.
