How much do cats reduce rasp on LMI

I'll be ordering Kooks LT's soon and am debating whether to go with an ORY or catted-y on my 2000 SS which has the LM I. I don't want to replace the LM, but will the catted Y-pipe help cut down on rasp and drone compared to the ORY?

Plus, even though our local county does not require emissions testing, if it starts up later then I won't have to go thru the hassle of converting back to a catted setup.

Any thoughts?

Thanks..

I knew of a guy who had a similar setup on his LS1 TA. Originally, he had Hooker long tubes, ORY, and the LM. He complained that the rasp was horrible. He then had a catted y-pipe put on and he said it helped quite a bit in cleaning up the exhaust note.

Go with the catted Y. ESPECIALLY on a Loudmouth system. Every GMMG system I've heard sounds better with the cats. The open exhaust of a LM would be no different.

IMO the LM1 is still too raspy even with cats. I'd say change the resonator out with a bullet or my choice would be a twister muffler.

The cats held back a LOT of sound on my LT + Borla No plate setup. It's raspy as hell now. After driving my buddy's LT1 TA w/ LT's ORY and TSP Rumbler CB, I noticed a definite difference. My car is loud as balls now... THe rasp is kind of getting to me, not bad but it is.. .
