They will have all manuf's in a day or 2. edit: Skimming across the headlines it appears EVERYONE is up in may almost. Z28Wilson 06-01-2007, 03:22 PM Yeah, I thought this was supposed to be a lousy time for car sales. Kia.....a division that Chevrolet/Saturn should have pummeled into submission years ago. Too late now. Z28x 06-01-2007, 03:43 PM If GM or Ford offered that same warranty that Kia offers, Kia wouldn't even exist right now. (at least in the USA) graham 06-01-2007, 03:50 PM Whats better about the Kia warranty? Gripenfelter 06-01-2007, 05:03 PM People buying newer cars because their old clunkers suck more gas. 2000GTP 06-01-2007, 07:50 PM From the looks of things, it looks like Toyota posted similar gains. 95 Z/28 LT1 06-01-2007, 09:05 PM edit: Skimming across the headlines it appears EVERYONE is up in may almost. Ford went down 6.9%. Silverado C-10 06-01-2007, 09:50 PM According to a different article Toyo sales are up 14% and Tundra sales are up 114%, over 17K trucks this month. That's on pace for MORE than 200K/year. Those bastards  graham 06-01-2007, 10:57 PM They're on pace to sell 146,671 according to the first 5 months. 638,258 for Silverado 201,854 for Sierra 363,943 for Ram 696,676 for F-series Fbodfather 06-01-2007, 11:22 PM In most cases, sales would be up -- there's one more selling day this May..... guionM 06-02-2007, 04:11 AM Whats better about the Kia warranty? If I recall, it's something like 10 years on the powertrain for starters. Then there's a 5 year basic warranty. Finally, roadside assistance for 5 years. That's just standard. Then you have Kia's "extended warranty" called the "Protection Pakage". In short, if anything happens to your Kia short of you driving it into a brick wall or off a cliff (unforseen service & repairs) you're covered... and get roadside assistance... and get an alowence towards a vehicle while the car is getting repaired. Some of it is fluff (that 10 year warranty ends at 100,000 miles if it comes 1st), but for someone in the market for a dependable car they don't want to have to muck around with, it's going to pull buyers with a Honda or Toyota mentality. Buyers who put dependability over speed and flash.... roughly most of the buying public. Funny thing is that today, auto manufacturing technology is so advanced and so high quality almost across the board, that any auto manufacturer can provide such a warranty if they wanted. So yes, GM (or Ford, or Chrysler) could offer a warranty this good if marketing decided this was the way to go. georgejetson 06-02-2007, 07:37 AM They're on pace to sell 146,671 according to the first 5 months. Or were, until the camshaft thing. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out. Silverado C-10 06-02-2007, 08:54 PM They're on pace to sell 146,671 according to the first 5 months. 638,258 for Silverado 201,854 for Sierra 363,943 for Ram 696,676 for F-series When Toyota said their goal was to sell 200K trucks/year they were referring to the first full selling year, 2008. They knew sales would be slow at first. Assuming they can continue to sell 17K+ per month, they've reached their goal. Like I said... THOSE BASTARDS! They ARE selling too! I see 2 to 3 a day now in my daily travels. I counted 5 today. I only see about 5 or 6 new silverados daily :( The Greenville market is VERY PRO TOYOTA! Back home in a backwoods region of NY I hardly see any Toyota's when I go home to visit my parents. Kinda funny, really. Josh452 06-02-2007, 09:26 PM Where did you find this info? Mfg's usually don't release sales info on the first day of a new month.... plus I googled it and couldn't find it  Automakers almost always release their sales figures on the first day of the new month. They track them all month. The thing that I love is when dealers offer the deals for the next day and "backdate" sales. That's why you might think they don't announce sales on the first day of the month. In most cases, sales would be up -- there's one more selling day this May..... True, but that has not been the case this year. The market is so crazy right now it is tough to say. It is great to see Saturn posting huge gains in retail sales, but lets be honest...they have had no where to go but up. Afterall, if they continued to flutter and fail with the line-up they have now...well....somethings terribly wrong. | ||
