Return of the Supercharged Ford F-series pickup....last month!

Did anyone else miss this??

Ford didn't even wait for the 2008 model year to bring back a supercharged pickup.

After showing off an aftermarket version of the pickup at a Las Vegas trade show in November, Ford gave the project the green light. In April, the 450-horsepower 2007 F-150 Harley Davidson edition truck was available.

5 months is an amazingly short time to bring out something like this even though the powertrain was done even before Coletti retired.

Wow  very cool.

Does this mean a new lightning can't be too far away?

Pretty cool but I can get just over 400hp out of a Sierra Denali and it doesn't perform all that great. I doubt the extra 50hp in this is going to do much - especially since IIRC the F150 is usually heavier than the GMT-900s... or is it not? Count me out of the 'excited' column until they offer this motor in a more basic standard cab 2WD truck.

i had heard about it, because our dealership has had 2 of them, but i really didnt get all that excited. I kinda doubt it is a performance orented truck like the lightning, but then again maybe it is . I just assumed it was a dressed up f150 with a blower bolted on the old 5.4.

didn't the lightning only have like 390hp?

I don't think thisis the same exact drivetrain. This package was developed by Saleen.

This could be considered a stopgap until the Lightning comes, if approved. It isfar from a done deal from what I hear.

Only in places like SVT brochures and at the rear wheels. ;)

I agree, that is alot of pound to haul around. If they could offer that powertrain in a smaller, more performance geared truck, then I think they might have a head turner there.

So maybe that 450hp is just in the brochures too........

Ford may have wanted to keep this one quiet so that the greenies and gas-consumption police don't take up residence outside HQ in Dearborn....

If you do the math the old Lightning didn't make sense either

You mean the supercharged previous-gen body style? Why didn't it make sense? IIRC, They ran about 14 flat in the 1/4-mile and were just some tuning and pulley swap away from 12s, right? Plus they were 'relatively' inexpensive compared to what this Harley truck will without a doubt cost.

Ok well I drove an 07 H-D F150 just the other day at work(Ford Dealership). It wasn't S/C'd thats for sure. Nice truck though. Sticker at 45k! But I hope it becomes S/C'd, its holding quite a few customers back becomes of the price for nothing special under the hood.

Huh?

That problem with the desiel trucks everybody thought was kinda cool, it pretty much amounted to a factory flamethrower out the exhuast, or maybe it was that recall for the cruise control switch mounted to the master cylinder.

The later ones were easy mid 13's stock.

And a diesel truck engine means what................ when talking about a supercharged 5.4L gas engine???

Oh, I get it, it has a blue oval on it............... thus, they must all be the same.

The supercharger is a warrantied DEALER installed option. This option, can also be put on other 5.4's at the dealership. I have dreams of my F150 Supercrew 4wd w/the supercharged 5.4 already. :D (what I always wanted)

Hah, it wasn't me, one or two people probably can attest to my patronage of things blue oval. However, this being a GM site (more specifically a camaro site) I could see where one would have trouble differentiating products at best, or really would like to see FoMoCo disappear altogether at worst.
