Finally got the new wheels and tires on. The wheels are ROH Drift R's, 18X9 up front, 18X10 in the back. Tires are Nitto 555R in the front (275/35ZR18), and Nitto DR 305/35ZR18.
Whaddya think?
MarcR94v6 05-28-2007, 06:04 PM i like.
shock6906 05-28-2007, 06:27 PM Vurry nice.
Slappy3243 05-28-2007, 06:51 PM I have those wheels on my GTO, just not as wide. They look really nice. My wheels look darker than yours though, more like gunmetal.
Predatorbird 05-28-2007, 06:57 PM thats my first time seeing those wheels on an f-body. i think they look incredible on your car.
CALL911 05-28-2007, 07:11 PM Thanks. The US Drift R's come in the Gunmetal color you said you had. The Australia ones are silver.
CamaroSS30thAnn 05-28-2007, 08:00 PM oooooo i actually likey :) Looks good man
Standard-z 05-28-2007, 08:28 PM Not bad. Very nice. :thumb: How much did they set you back?

lol, I take it you meant good ;) . Thanks man. I have to say your Drift R's were my inspiration.
The drift R's have been discontinued. There are only limited sizes and colors (only a couple gunmetal grey, and some various black) ones left for sale in the U.S.
The silver ones like I have are also discontinued, but were available through Australia. I managed to get 2 gunmetal grey ones for the back though a company in NY, and a couple silver ones for the front from some no-name place in Canada. I didn't know they were different colored until they all showed up at the place I got tires from. I was pretty much in too deep to get out at that point, so I had to have the gunmetal grey ones stripped and re-painted to match the silver ones (it cost me an arm and a friggin leg! )
JustNO 05-29-2007, 07:56 AM Now it is time to get Baer 6 pistons 14" ? Am I right? ;)
CALL911 05-29-2007, 08:32 AM I considered it actually. However they run around $3,000 and I am pretty much at a point with the Z, I need to stop spending that kind of money in it. The Baers I currently have on it stop it outstanding anyway.
2000GTP 05-29-2007, 09:18 AM The wheels are awesome. Where did you get them from.
JustNO 05-29-2007, 09:26 AM I need to stop spending that kind of money in it.
Hahaha Yeah thats my problem too. :) You got the Baer "track" one. How about GT+ ? I ask you because I saw that you are a Baer expert
The wheels look very nice tough.
CALL911 05-29-2007, 01:16 PM I wouldn't consider myself an "expert" by any means. However, I do know a bit about the systems.
The Baer Track system that I have is pretty much just as good as their GT+ system. Both are large 2 piston calipers, however the GT+ utilizes a 14 instead of a 13 inch rotor. The GT+ is quite a bit more $, but I doubt you will see much increase in brake performance. If you want to step up from any of Baers 2 piston calipers, the only real way to go is straight to their Extreme Plus 6 piston calipers. These are the ones I was considering for $3,000. When it comes down to it, unless you are doing a lot of race track runs, or a lot of high speed 150+ MPH hardcore braking, the Track series will do MORE than fine. I have gotten on mine at 185+ MPH and they will almost over stop the tires as it is, not to mention dropping to normal highway speeds in only a matter of a couple seconds.
You are better off most likely getting the track system like me, and going all out on the pads, brake fluid, and rotors. I had my rotors cryogenically frozen, after getting them from Baer, as well as getting some hardcore brake pads (that chirp everywhere and dust horribly), as well as some Super Blue brake fluid that has an extremly high boiling point.
2000GTP, I got the rear two wheels from Group A wheels in NY, and the front two from some no-name tire joint in Canada. Again, these wheels are discontinued, so there are only limited sizes left (as well as colors). Thats why I had to go through 2 different companies to get the sizes I wanted. Even then, the colors where off and.... Just read post #11 :)
Slappy3243 05-29-2007, 01:31 PM I also got my gunmetal drift R wheels from GroupAWheels in NY. As far as I know, all of these wheels were made in Australia, not just the silver ones. Unless you mean that the silver ones were sold only in Australia.

I did mean that only the silver ones were sold only in Austrailia. Group A Wheels only offers them in Black and Gunmetal Grey. The only reason the Canadian shop had them is because they had ordered a few direct from Australia.
When talking to the ROH official about them, he said they were discontinued because a new Drift R was in the works. Maybe it will resemble the old ones.

There is actually a huge thread on LS2gto.com about this. It looks like they may be getting together another large shipment of the current Drift R style wheels depending on interest. Check it out: http://ls2gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133864

I talked to the ROH official, and he said they don't make them anymore, and there are only so many left out there. If they are pooling for a big shipment, they won't be coming from the factory, but from wherever there are any left. The silver ones are really hard to get ahold of, and are the most rare. The black ones seem to be most plentiful at this time. The magnesium ones in the GTO thread are actually the gunmetal grey ones even though the pic in the thread shows it as silver (I know this just because my rear ones were "magnesium silver", and they were the darker gunmetal color. These same "magnesium" ones were ones that seemed to be almost sold out of completly.
I am just glad I got mine before they were all gone. I had wanted them for months, but waited until the last second to get them. It wasn't until I finally ordered them, that I found out they were discontinued. Thats were it got frantic, trying to find the ones I needed in my desired size and color. Even then I ended up with the 2 I had to have stripped down and re-painted.

I guess I am lucky I got a set too! I was thinking about getting wider ones for the rear but that looks next to impossible now since you say they are being discontinued. :( The gunmetal ones compliment my Cyclone Grey GTO nicely. :)

I have only ever seen them on 1 F-body before, and I fell in love with them. I see them all over the web on GTO's for some reason. They will look great on your car as they look great on all the GTO's I have seen.

Thanks. The reason they are popular on the GTO is because of their bolt pattern and offset. The GTOs are very picky about wheels especially since strut rub and rear fender rub are issues without proper sizing.
Injuneer 05-29-2007, 07:07 PM Probably the best looking set of wheels I've ever seen on a 4th Gen. Very nice.

That means a lot coming from the wheel and tire moderator. Thanks! :D

stovetop25 06-02-2007, 08:33 PM I really like them, nice and clean.
