I have a 94 Z28 and the dash "Brakes" light is lit. Just replaced all rotors and pads. The light is still lit. What does this mean?

Did you bleed the system???? could be air bubbles...:)

Several things cause the brake light to come on:

emergency brake handle not all the way down or faulty switch,
low brake fluid in the reservoir,
uneven pressure in the brake system; usually fix by pressing down hard on the brake peddle

My e-brake is down completely and the brake pads all around were almost to the backing plate yet the light will not go off. When I pushed the caliper piston back in, I found that fluid leaked out of the reservoir. Did not see where on the reservoir it spilled from. I never had this happen before.

When you collapse the brake pistons to make room for fresh pads, it forces brake fluid back to the reservoir. This can cause the reservoir to overflow, especially if you topped off the brake fluid in the past.

Check first by making a hard stop in a safe area. The switch may have set when you forced the pistons in and the pressure in one side was higher than the other. The switch will sometimes stick, and can sometimes be released by a really hard stop. Just make sure there is nothing around you to run into should the brakes not perform well.

If the light doesn't go out, you have to check for air in the system, or leaks in the system. Maybe forcing the pistons back in the caliper pushed some dirt back in and scratched the bores. Check all the brakes for leaks at the pistons.

Just see if the logic to this test makes sense:

If the Brake light is on for the brake system then, I should be able to unplug the connector to the proportioning valve and if it's unplugged the light should change status or cross the connector with a paper clip should also change the status of the light ?
