lowering 2"

i want to lower my SS 2 inches. so far this is what im looking at:

UMI complete front A arm kit $629
UMI tubular adjustable rear control arms $169
UMI relocation brackets $59
UMI 3 point tube SFCs $250
UMI adjustable panhard...not sure...i think $169?

i added prices just in case some knows where to get a better price. ;)

for shocks i researched and saw that lots of people like Strano's revalved shocks. are these good for a 2" drop?

what springs should i go with?

should i get a TQ arm?

what about new strut brackets?

any other info/tips/help is GREATLY appreciated.

Lets start off with this. What are your intentions for this car? Are you going to do Drag racing, or AutoX. Is it a DD or a weekend car?

Ah. Yeah you didnt tell us what your intentions are for the car. ha ha ha. You have to understand that What works good for drag racing does not really work for AutoCross.

yes i do know what works for drag sucks for autoX and visa versa...cause i've been doing research...just not knowing all that i need for a good handling DD with a 2" drop.

Once again. So are you going for a track car or Drag car. Your not letting us know.

p.s. 2" is pretty low, I'd recommend 1.5 or a 1.25 inch drop. As for handling, You need good shocks, and some good strong Sway bars, in order to minimize body roll. The torque arm is more for Drag racing so save your money. The shock tower brace I would recommend. The 3 point SFC's should be good, but might be overkill for a DD.

i might take it to the 1/4 once or twice a year so i'm not looking for a drag setup. i dont auto x or road race. i just want a great handling DD.

i measured from the ground to the center of the wheel wells and it's 28" inches and 3 3/4" from well to wheel. so, maybe an inch and a half would be better.

can anyone recommend some springs?

and does my list look like a good complete package for lowering and a great handling DD?

I agree, 2" is too low for a daily driver. I've been at a 1.5" drop and don't care for it. It looks good sitting still, but isn't extremely functional. I also hate when anything scrapes though. Some people don't mind.

2'' is to much. Go with 1.25 or 1.5 if the roads are in good shape where you drive. Personally I'd go 1.25. Give Strano a call as was mentioned and see what they recommend for parts. I say this because everyone seems to think it's a pretty good bang for the buck, and some people on the internet might not really know what their talking about, so call an expert.
My advice (take it for what it's worth) is to go with the DD sub frame connectors. Big improvement on my car. Skip the shock tower brace, BTDT, no noticeable improvement after the DDs. Looks nice, but that's it, plus it just adds weight. The adj. panhard rod is needed to re-center the car over the rearend, and also an adj. TA is needed to correct the pinion angle. Your correct in getting the relocation brackets. I think in the end you will have a very nice improvement in handling, and if you take the car to the drag strip once in a while, just get some sticky tires on a set of spare wheels. Unless your running some huge HP they should do the trick.

well i guess i feel alittle diffrent. i have my 97 z lowered a little more than two inches and my car is a daily driver. but i have also always had lowered cars/trucks. most have been set up on air bags. so i have been driving lowered/bagged stuff for about 15 years. it does make a diffrence. have you thought about an adjustable setup like coil overs or airride technoligies makes an airride set up for the camaro thats a pretty much bolt in set up. i have the ground control coilover with kyb/agx adjustable shocks and im running 18s in the front and 19 in the rear. it rides better than stock and handles great, for a daily driver. just some thoughts

I was going to Order the BMR springs but they were on back order for a while. So I went with the pro-kit. I like the ride and the handling is pretty good. WHat made the most noticable difference is the 1LE front Sway Bar. I might be selling mine for some EiBach 35mm Solid SB's.
