Stripped bolt in Aux Valve body, HELP!

I was putting my aux valve body in my 93 Corvette 4L60, when the bolt (long one in picture, wouldnt even start. I took it out and the threads were gone. Then I measured the distance up to where it bottomed out and this bolt seems longer than the hole. But, it was there when I took it out as it was the one with the tab to hold the aux body hydraulic tube down.
My question is , can I tap it? Or put a slightly larger bolt in? Thnaks in Advance

The correct way to fix it would be to heli-coil it, but there's a few threads left in the bottom of the hole that MAY hold a slightly longer bolt.

Thanks Frank. I will get a stud and see if that will work, otherwise I may helicoil it.

Well Pete, I put a new bolt in with a slighlty larger thread, same depth. Went quite well. Then of course you know about the 4 gear accumulator ppiston pin I found later :)
Yes Pete, I am all over the net when in crisis mode. :(

I don't blame you. Lots of good info out there. This forum has quite a few good transmission guys here.
