I'm looking at a fiberglass ss hood on ebay that says it still has the gel coat on it. I was wondering how much more body shops usually charge to paint it if it still has the gel coat on rather then it being already sanded and primered?

 

Most body shops have different estimating systems that would spit out the book refinish time to paint a hood along with clear coat, but this doesn't take into the factor of any priming or stripping that would need to be done to have the work warrantied.

I am going to ball park and say $350-$450 depending on shop, rates, type of paint.
