Convertible Top Replacement

Anyone with experience doing it themselves, any tips/tricks - anyone with pics? I'm considering doing it myself, my top is not pretty - like the looks of the vinyl tops but are they durable???

Never done it on the Camaro, but I replaced my 67 Chevelle's. I'd have to say, i'd never do it again.

If your good with upholstery and have lots of patience, you may want to try. Otherwise, a convertible top is an area where a professional is worth paying for.

I checked out LS1 tech info, thanks for the tip. One other question, Vinyl or Stayfast. The original top is I believe Stayfast, but at twice the price and same warranty as the Vinyl top. I like the looks of the Vinyl (on lots of Fords) and the cost - anyone with experience with the Vinyl tops and any possible issues?

I've seen the vinyl top on a local camaro and it didn't look like it was holding up... Given that half the cost will be the labor for installation or your time if you're going to try it yourself, I'd spend the extra money and get the better canvas top.

As a side note. I haven't read many good experiences with trying to DIY the job...

I helped my brother wrestle with an old Sebring top, and I have no desire to do that again. I'd stay with Stayfast.
