1995 TA with 510 BBC and Powerglide

I am looking to sell my 1995 TA that has a 510 Big Block Chevy making around 700 or so horsepower with A LOT of room to grow that number. For specifics on the car check my cardomain page: cardomain.com/ride/634484

If there are questions, which I know there will be please contat me via email or PM here on the site. My e-mail is pontiac510@gmail.com

You can see what the car has here and as far as negatives, the only negatives are the stock rear and some small holes in the floorboards that need patched. I would cut them out and re-weld just to avoid the headache. There is also a spot above the rear wheel that needs some rust removed. Other than that the car is really nice as you can see in the pics. I can take more detailed pics as needed as well.

I am looking for 14k as I have 10K in the motor alone. It has an all forged bottom end, and Dart Heads. I am willing to listen to all offers. I will also accept a trade for a used C5 plus cash from me.

I had a detailed listing put up but I must have taken too long because the board made me re-sign in and I lost all the info. I did not want to re-type all of that info.

Let me know if there are questions, thanks.

It's just too much car for me right now. I don't seem to drive it much, it's got manual steering and it is very loud and attracts all kinds of attention (the wrong kind) I feel that the car is very cool and may be more enjoyable for someone used to this kind of power and manual steering.

More than likely I will use the money to buy a C5 or some other more streetable car.

Keep in mind this car mechanically is brand new basically. The trans and motor are new, as is the whole ignition, fuel system and carb....basically everything that makes the car run. Driveshaft is new too.

I have some questions... they're mostly out of curiosity. I'd love to buy your car, but I simply can't afford it. :(

Did you go with the manual rack for weight savings, or did the big block necessitate it for space reasons?

How is the rear suspension set up?

Where are you located?

jerrysta
05-24-2007, 10:37 AM
I'm in Medina Ohio which is near between Cleveland and Akron. The manual rack was done for both reasons really. But looking at the car now it probably is needed for space reasons. I'm sure that power steering could be kept with some creativity. It's like anything else with cars, if you have enough money you can do anything. LOL

The rear suspension has BMR LCA relocation brackets with Spohn control arms. I changed this when the car was lowered. It also has a Spohn panhard bar. A pretty basic set up really. Probably not absolutely ideal for dragging, but the car went 13.60's with a CAI and cat back. 60' times were in the 2.0xx range. Obviously this car is a hell of a lot tougher to hook I'm sure but on the street if you baby it out off of idle it does get grip. I bet the car will run high tens just how it sits! I could be wrong though. Sticky tires and a tough rear end and who knows....

A guy who is interested in possibly trading his C5 and has experience with racing thinks it's an 8 second car with a good spray. I said not without a cage and a rear end!!!!!!!

Truthfully it's just a unique vehicle that just surprises people. I have had it out around my house and people love it. All of the hard work is done so it will be a great car for someone to buy.

I wish I could sell it cheaper but I'm trying to at least get my money in the motor out of it but there are not too many takers so far.

I guess this is one of those cars that falls in the category of "very cool car.....but not for my car!!" People like it but few will be willing to live with a drag racing car on the street. Of course if you have a driver it could be a mostly track car......

Come on, someone has to be interested in this car!!!!!!

dragracefever
05-24-2007, 01:06 PM
You are looking to get motor money back? So 10K?

jerrysta
05-24-2007, 02:34 PM
I don't know if that was supposed to be a smart A$$ answer or not but motors aren't cheap you know. The heads alone were over 3k. I guess I should say motor and Trans because that's where the 14k comes from. I have a glide in this car built to handle the stresses of 1500hp or more that Gary's car has. The bottom end is all forged and we know a roller cam is over 500 for cam and lifters. The engine was bored out and you know that's not free....then of course it needs to be clearanced for the 4.5 stroke. Then assembled and the builder wants to try to make a profit so I think the amount is close but you are about 1k shy on the cost. That's not to mention the intake or carb, which is close to another k, balancer and on and on. I think the cost is very fair here. Go price a crate motor with 750 to 800hp. Here I am pricing a WHOLE CAR with EXTENSIVE FABRICATION to make this work.

Now if you can build your own motor you can obviously do it cheaper, but if you could then why would you come into my ad and post crap like that so that the members think my price is too high. The average person can not do this build for under 20k.

To the other members I am sorry if this post came off as combative. Many of you have bought or sold parts with me when I parted out the old LT1 and you know I am a good person to deal with. I just don't understand why people have to come into ads and post crap like this.

I spent almost two full, very difficult and expensive years building this car. Most of you can apprecaite the difficulty of this build. I don't appreciate some one coming in acting like 10k is fair for this car. I would not even sell the motor alone for that and not too many people would blame me.

Chevy zz572 is 13k with 620hp. I think that my price is extremely fair.

Again, sorry if this came off as combative.

dragracefever
05-24-2007, 10:04 PM
I never said your car was only worth 10k. No where does my post say anything about your car being worth only 10k. I was just reading the ad and you said....."I'm trying to at least get my money in the motor out of it". I'm looking for a car and naturally as cheap as I can buy. Sorry if you mistook me but 10k was just a starting place and I apologize for maybe reading too much into the ad. I know how it goes to tie up too much into a car. Good luck with the sale.

jerrysta
05-25-2007, 11:01 AM
Alright man no offense taken then. It is hard to judge sometimes online how a persons tone is coming across. By selling for even 13 or 14k I would be losing thousands but I understand that's how it goes with modded cars. Just figured this one would be unique enough to actually get some okay money out of. I have easily 20k not including all the little crap I don't have receipts for anymore but I would not expect a person to pay that much.

I put 14k because I figured that would be enough to get someone's attention and sell the car.

Essentially you are getting the car minus any labor it took to put it together and with a discount on the parts.

I got a little riled up because I thought you were just trolling my ad which would hurt my ability to sell my car. There are people that do that out there.

Take it easy and good luck on your search.

I can't believe I don't even have anyone interested in the car. Everyone talks about what a cool idea it is and everything and here is the for 6 to 8k cheaper than it can be built and no one is sending any offers for pics or anything?

Is there something you guys are NOT liking about the car?

JakeRobb
06-07-2007, 11:23 AM
Is there something you guys are NOT liking about the car?

If I had the money, I would hesitate because of the 10-bolt rear end. The car doesn't have a roll cage, does it? I figure most people interested in something like this are going to want one.

If you put in a Dana 60 and a cage, maybe you'll get more interest. Or maybe you'll just be out a few more grand. :(

That's all I can think of.

jerrysta
06-07-2007, 11:27 AM
I can understand the rear end but the fact is you are going to have to put a rear end in whether you do the build yourself or buy an almost done car like this one.

Again, with the price I'm asking you could easily buy a rear and cage (depending on cage) and STILL be under 20k.

I mean, if those items were already done on the car I would not be asking 14k for the car.

Looks like I'll be hanging on to the car for a while, which isn't a bad thing anyway.

JakeRobb
06-07-2007, 11:33 AM
Yeah, I'm not saying you did anything wrong... just that I think the type of person to buy a mostly-done race car is even more likely to pony up for something that's totally done.

Maybe it's just the economy? A lot of people don't have very much disposable income these days...

Or maybe gas prices? Who wants a big block at $3.50/gallon?

jerrysta

Put it up but could not get my pictures to post properly (most likely due to firewall restrictions). Had a bunch of trade offers for the car (mostly for old muscle cars) but nothing cash wise without pics. awesome car , hows it do on the street or highway

jerrysta
08-03-2007, 09:50 PM
If you can handle the manual steering it does just fine on the street. I have not had it on an expressway in 65 or faster traffic but I drove it home on state rt 252 doing 40-55 for about 40 minutes and it was fine. It's got a circle track radiator now.

Is it as comfy as the base LT1? Of course not. You have to be careful with the exhaust and you have to think about how you are going to take your turns. I think it's a small price to pay for 650 to 670 hp at the wheels.

I plan on taking it to the track next Wed or Fri. I am betting it will go into the 11's with a soft launch due to the stock rear and regular street tires. But, we will see.................

Thanks for the kind words.

I spent a ton of time and money on the car and what has happened is that basically with my job I have no time to drive the car. I have only had it out about three times this summer. Tried to get to the track last week but was not able to, again because I had to work late. So, my plans are to get something that is more of a bolt on driver that I could drive to work here and there.

I'm probably going to be looking at a C5.

Thanks for looking at my listing. Please pass the word of the car. All you need is a rear end and to make some radiator brackets. I'd be willing to bet passes in the 11's the way the car sits right now.

jerrysta
08-16-2007, 02:51 PM
I currently have a promising possibility on a trade for a C5, but I am still keeping my options open to other offers.

I am sitting here and have to wonder, why is there not any action at that price??!! I thought the initial price of 14 was very fair and now it is all the way down to 11,500 and I can't believe no one is interested.

I think the truth is as much as we all talk about how cool it is to have 7 or 8 hundred horses, I am beginning to realize that this car will likely be sold to someone who is going to race it and not even drive it on the street. That is my opinion. It's a lot for the street.

In any case, I hope this trade works out but if not 11500 is as low as I can go on the car. I would rather look at it in my garage than eat over 10k. I know guys have suffered far worse losses than this on a car, but the only thing I have against the car right now is that I don't have time to drive it and I need more of a daily driver. Maybe in time I will have the time to drive and enjoy the car.
